Hi there,

Trying to find a specific J system which contains a static to lowsec, whats the best way to go about it?

Thanks

Either go to lowsec and start scanning for k162s until you got the matching one, or
go into a hole with a lightweight c2-static (c4/c5/c6 with c2 static all got 1b mass only afaik = 2orcas both ways) and chaincollapse until you find your home.

Last alternative is to place a bounty on that system and get that bounty to an audience.

Thank you for the quick and great answer.

So k162 are the WHs from low sec to J space?

But these k162s, are only k162s from known space right? Because if you jump through they will be something else from the other side, is this correct?

Thanks

K162s are the 'exit' side of wormholes, all of them not just from low sec. So if you find a K162, that means it was opened from the other side.

That said, what Sleepaz is saying is to either go to low sec and begin scanning for the j-sig you're looking for or go into one of either a C4/C5/C6 wormhole that has a C2 as a static and rage roll that static C2 connection over and over again until you locate the system you're looking for (by you're low sec based question the assumption is that you're looking for either a specific C2 or a C3).

I'm right behind you

There are two basic techniques, as alluded to above:
1. Rage-rolling.
2. Chain-smoking.

The first technique gives you a flat percentage chance (variable depending on class and number of systems) of rolling into a given hole. The second requires a dedicated team "smoking out" chains. The second technique -- outside of C6 space -- typically gives you quicker results.

Chain-smoking is just what it sounds like. Send a team out into a likely chain of systems that might match up to what you're looking for. They just scan and scan and scan, finding connections, hitting adjacent k-space systems when a chain ends, going back up the chain to log off for the night, then doing it the next day. It's fairly boring, slow work, but with a modest team of several people doing this daily, you'll get results if you're patient. You're just playing the numbers, and the benefit of smoking down chains repeatedly is you really raise your chances of getting a connection through someone else's static, a roamer, a k162, whatever.

Looking for K162's in lowsec will work, but the effectiveness depends on whether or not the hole is occupied. If it's not, it's less likely that the exit will be spawned.

If it is occupied, the easiest way is just to get a list of people active in the wormhole (using killboards usually), and just constantly spamming locator agents on them when they are out of the WH to get a rough idea where their chain exit is. From there, just try to back scan into their WH.

If nobody lives in the WH, you're probably best off just scanning down lots of chains.

Another option would involve working with existing wormholers. For instance if you happen to know other players/corporations that frequent/inhabit wormholes, like myself and my corporation, you cold request that said persons keep an eye out for a wormhole with specific properties. Also such players could likely give you a lot of advice and information on setting up and operating a wormhole system. Also another option would be to check the wormhole for sale section in forums.
