Why would I donate free time and risk living under a NDA when I can create third party content and get showered with freebie's, isk and money?

I have, in the past applied as a volunteer (more than once) but I have found it harder to be considered, than if you were paying me a salary, which has in return soured me on the idea altogether. Though I do support the community as a whole, it would be nice if the powers that be would inform applicants why exactly they were passed over. I understand that it would be a bit time consuming, but would at least give some direction to those applicants for a stronger look if they decide to apply in the future.

Would a forum ban on an alt account count as a bad standing?
That's entirely up to CCP to decide and a question that is definitely not going to be answered on the forum.
The best thing you can do is ask CCP, by filing a support ticket under the header 'Rules & Policies' > 'Game Masters & ISD', politely explaining you might want to apply to ISD but do not know if your accounts are in good standing.


That said, I have removed a rule breaking post.

I generally try to respond to all applications I receive that fulfill the basic requirements as stated in the first post. Some applicants may find that my emails are filtered out into spam since they come from an ISD related domain name and not from an eveonline related domain name.

A number of applicants have failed to respond to a request for interviews, so I'm assuming many of the emails were filtered. I will resend requests for interviews to those that have yet to respond.

I certainly appreciate the response, and it is good to know that there is an effort to give feedback. I am curious to know if it is possible for someone to volunteer for more than one department? What is typically the main detractor that keeps applicants from being chosen as a volunteer?

How do we know what standings our ACCTS are?

Its not like there's any indication.

For myself, I know my standings is in the "DEVS/GMS do not talk to this idiot" area. But what about the rest of the people interested?



I sent a support ticket to the GMs and asked if I was able. Honestly though, you know if you have been banned or not, and odds are if it was a major EULA breach, you wont be accepted.

I was told in no uncertain terms I was ineligible to take part in any ISD programs.

It varies so I don't know what YARR do for sure, but for me in CCL there was an online questionnaire, e-mail exchange, live text chat interview, plus the necessary legal documentation (ID, NDA, etc). AFAIK personal meetings and voice chat are uncommon because of ISD identity protection, and because ISD, like Eve players, are all over the world.

YOU wouldn't.

The reason decent humans would, are to take pride in being part of a group helping support and foster the growth of the EvE community, not only through providing information that assists new and old capsuleers alike, but helping to maintain the back-story and immersion that is one of the small building blocks that has enabled EvE to be what it is today. Just the same as the hosts of many services provided free to players of EvE, like the dotlan maps, the verite sov maps, and EFT to name a few, people value the pride they take in volunteering their time to help the community.

I would volunteer for translating the whole wiki to spanish, got loads of free time... that can be done? I mean, game is in several languages, but wiki could be translated to some languages game is not translated yet to make it easier for the spanish community to fully understand the game.

I think that every volunteer has a reason to do it. Some people could be doing it because they want to add the experience to their CV and are possibly even hoping to work for CCP some day. Some could be doing it to get the power or the respect from communit.y - but then there are the enthusiastic ones who simply want to be a bigger part of something they love so much. I would imagine CCP getting a lot more applications than there are places to fill.
