The patch yesterday included a fix for a short freeze at the warp-in to scenes with many objects (including but not limited to asteroid belts). Please send bug reports with additional information if you are still experiencing freezes of some kind. Interesting are both bug reports from in-game after such a freeze happened and bug reports through the web with attached logs from logserver.exe. The logs from the in-game bug report tool and from logserver.exe contain a bit different information, and both might include important information in this case. Please also provide descriptions on when exactly these freezes happen to you.

As stated above, I have already submitted a bug report containing logs from logserver.exe.

I am still experiencing constant freezes which make any sort of sensible play a complete impossibility.

The freezes happen whenever there is anything more than just my ship on screen. The more objects there are, or the larger the objects are, the more severe the problem becomes. Undocking and jumping are horrendous.

When undocking it's a full minute before I have any control of my ship or can move my camera to see the situation outside the station.

Edit: I should add that altering my settings for optimal performance via the Esc menu makes absolutely no difference.

I've seen your report, but unfortunately it is missing any attachments. Could you please try to send them again? It is best to zip them before to reduce the size of the attachments.

I had a look and while I can see the freezes in your logs, I am not sure about the cause for them. They seems to be all over the place where-ever it makes sense that the game uses a bit more CPU, but it does not seem to be related to graphics. How much CPU is the client using? Is anything else on your system using all the CPU? So far I have not seen anything in the logs, which would indicate, that there is a problem with the code (but I would need more info to be able to say for sure).
Just in case: Have you tried to clear your client cache?

I did a few re-runs of the sequence represented by one of the logs I sent you.

During this time the overall system CPU usage did not go above 27%. During the events that cause the worst freezes (undocking/jumping) it did not exceed 9%.

The highest levels were when selecting an overview item or clicking a command in the selected item box.

Clearing the cache was the first thing I tried - made no difference whatsoever.

Hi, I have been experiencing major client freezes / crashes and my entire OS locking up since the most recent patch (17th?). I can't even play the game. The client will lock up for 1-2 minutes, sometimes it recovers, only to lock up again shortly after or even worse will cause a BSOD / Memory dump in Windows (total system failure). My PC is fine otherwise, this only happens when playing EVE, and only since the recent patch.

Ok I updated my graphics drivers to latest from AMD, ran EVE client repair tool, and cleared the caches. I was able to play a little longer and kill a few rats on the mission I was on, but within about 10 minutes of play time it went right back to freezing again. After 2-3 freezes I was able to warp out to station. Then it froze again in the station, and caused my PC to BSOD.

Incredibly frustating...

Thanks for looking into this CCP - I submitted a bug report with logs as well for these client stutters.

They occur every time I change systems or save a bookmark.

I already worked with the GMs to rule out client side hardware or network problems, heat issues, drivers, and conflicting background software.

Have you changed hard drives lately, or added one? I have this happenning infrequently when one of my 3 drives go into "sleep mode" and stops spinning. When it spools back up, it freezes the game for a few seconds, and when both do it one after the other, it can last up to 10 seconds.

Cheers.

Could we have a progress report on this, please?

It's over a week since the last Dev post and it's 2 weeks and 2 days since I was last able to engage in any meaningful activity.

I too have submitted a bug report with this same exact issue.

I have tried clearing my cache. Nothing.

I have tried completely reformatting my system, since all my drivers were up to date anyway and reinstalled EvE. Nothing.

I have tried clearing my cache AFTER reformatting. Nothing.

I have tried deleting that file that some people recommended in my User's Eve folder. Nothing.

I have tried, oh it's useless, I'll wait for yall to get back to me.

3-4 second freezes every 20-30 seconds, unless more objects are on grid and it will freeze every 3-4 seconds for 3-4 seconds. But I play on! Because I refuse to let this issue stop me from stomping all those who oppose the CFC.

Bug files can be located @ https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B55YMM3i_3uuTUh1R3NxSDNLTms&usp=sharing

No screenshot required. Just turn off your monitor and unplug your mouse and keyboard every 5 seconds for 5 seconds to realize how annoying this is. Especially while floating many multiple accounts... zzzz

It's been like this for a few patches now.

Thanks!

I had a look at your log files, and I can see that you are freezing quite often, but I have to be honest: I have no clue what might be causing it, but it seems to be similar to Oraac Ensor. It looks like it would be something outside of the Eve client, but I cannot prove it and I have no further details.
Could you try to find out if it might be related to disk activity? Maybe the client is trying to write settings to disk or loading something from cache.

If it's something outside of the Eve client it's an amazing coincidence that it started with the implementation of the Rubicon 1.3 patch.

[Edit] Are you saying that you are no longer working on a fix for this? If so, I'll have no option but to leave Eve and get a refund of my wasted subscription.

We are still looking into it, but at the moment we have no idea on what might be causing it (and we are unable to reproduce the problem here in the office) - so we cannot really work on a fix.

One idea, which was mentioned in another thread: Could you please try to clear your client settings, be renaming the folder of your client settings, if you haven't done yet? Please check these instructions on Evelopedia .

I was hoping to avoid that after the trauma of resetting everything after the previous time I was asked to do it.

It made no difference on that occasion and it has made no difference this time.

I can see no reference to renaming anything in the guide you linked and have no idea how to do it. I cleared my settings via the Esc menu.

It seems to me that whatever is causing this is buried somewhere in the Rubicon 1.3 patch.

Here are my gamelogs from just before and just after the patch:

happened to me the first time today. Client froze for at least 5s (including the mouse pointer). Happened right after i warped to a FW complex with a single neutral ship on gate. (he was already in warp as the client unfroze, if he would have decided to fight he would have a good advantage)

i am only running a single client, happened the first time ever to me and i can't reproduce it so far.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

The latest patch has made this situation worse.

Come on, CCP - sort this out, ffs.

[Edit] In case it wasn't already evident - I'm starting to get really angry about this. It's now over TWO MONTHS since I was last able to play properly. That's two months of game time that I've PAID for but haven't been able to use. That's fraud in my book.

Massive lockups still happening. 5 to 10 seconds at a time, every 10 seconds or so.

Cleared cache, ran the repair tool.

Only happens when enemies are on the grid. Especially when spawn occurs.

Monitored disk usage on an SSD, never much used, the remained of the system works flawlessly.

CPU never above around 20%, memory at 35%. Tried min, medium, max graphics settings, including turning resource caching on and off.

No other games or programs suffering from this sort of lockup.

Feels like some bad code executing on loading and positioning enemies, perhaps textures or shadows, though that should be flawless with dx9/11.

So who knows, definitely something wrong with the eve client, not the machine, OS or internet.
