What's the other one? I'm guessing star citizen is one but what's the other one?

Yeah it'll be just like that time that Star Wars: The Old Republic killed EVE. Or Star Trek Online killed EVE. Or Black Prophecy.

Didn't play any of those but from what i've heard about it they not close to EvE a bit.

So they've been in coma for last 13 years? Those dev's are not noobs. They've created games before. I presume they heard about EvE, and they know what advantages and disadvantages it has. I know its much harder to build such complex game as EvE in shorter time. Sandbox is the key here. Some competition would be healthy, for both sides.
13 years of development doesn't mean you won't do juvenile mistakes (like with Nestor build for whatever purpose it was build).

New space, player built gates. On the other side there is no local, no map, no market, no stations, no infrastructure what so ever; unless you build it. Players will have to colonize one system at a time, pressing forward Oregon trail style.

Sounds like wormhole with a gate and a dot on known space map. The more system to explore/fight for the better.

If they're really AFK, what damage are they causing?

No, I mean they haven't been working on their games for 13 years. Sure they can learn from EVE's mistakes, and that'll help them, but CCP have invested millions of man hours and hundreds of millions of dollars into EVE and that's a big head start.

And of course it's naive to think that they won;t make mistakes of their own. To address your example, do you think that the Star Citizen ships will be perfectly balanced on launch? Will there be no "turkey" ships that no one wants to use?

…and neither are any of the space exploration games people keep pointing to. They are what their older incarnations (Elite and Freelancer) were, with optional multiplayer and modern graphics. They speak to a very different niche and offer very different gameplay than EVE does, just like SWToR and STO did.

No i don't think so. EvE hits 10 and they still balancing ships. That's the problem. Its like skeleton of good game that after 10 years is not finished to bring it to another level. I wouldn't mind good expansion once per 2 years and balancing patches in meantime.
Speaking of balancing are they take care about meta and t2 painters? its like put different value on respective module (T2 are worse than meta one<--- first problem to solve, not bring hull that is next to line in balancing 2016).

EvE is niche game. PvP in space. Beautiful circle of life and death between miners who provides and pilots who destroys. "World of Gatecamp".

Define EvE. Space sim? Space trader? Space explorer? Space spreasheet? Space Tidi? PvP space game?.

16 days to Tengu and i will go deep null enjoying sights, probing and listen to floyds and don't care about next "expansions".

Summer Speculation

Mineral changes as already informed to us by CCP

More deployable structures (getting closer to POS revamp-probably next summer)

Improvements on ships,UI, graphics & the usual stuff

Nerf some things & buff some things as usual

Code update to help fleet fights

Add some bling to Nex

That's about it, nothing ground breaking will happen, that's for sure

Perhaps this has been mentioned already, I didn't bother reading all 11 pages of posts, but...

Last expansion name was "Rubicon."

The first subtitle in the DevBlog Reprocess all the Things was

"Paving the Way to Rome."

Can't be coincidence can it? (Bonus points if you know the historical significance of these two apparent easter eggs...)

I am surprised that more people are not expecting at least the commencement of the long needed industry overhaul.

That is my guess.
