Wardec surrender mechanics

Hello all,

Not sure if this belongs in C&P or Warfare and Tactics, but there seems to be more discussion here regarding wardecs. I had an interesting thing happen, and I'm not sure how exactly this is supposed to work, so I figured I would ask here.

I wardec'd a corp yesterday, and today I received a notification that they have surrendered, fighting will end in 24 hours, and they cannot be re-dec'd for 2 weeks. This is all well and good for a surrender, but I was under the impression that I was supposed to receive a surrender offer which I can accept or refuse? I never received any kind of offer or notification other than the fact that the surrender is complete.

Is this some kind of bug? Or did I screw up somewhere when I dec'd them? Should I petition this? Thanks for any advice you can give, I've spent way to much time in nullsec and apparently I have fallen behind in my knowledge of empire wars.

Thanks!

Freaked me out when I first saw that too. My war targets shouldn't get to surrender until I goddamn well say they can surrender, after all. In my case it turned out that they had disbanded their corporation to evade the wardec. I'm guessing that's what happened to you too. They may have immediately re-formed their corp with the same name afterwards.

What he said. That's the most likely reason. If you hit show info on the target corp it will likely saw [Closed] next to it's name. If not, then yeah, for sure petition it.

Sounds like you got served.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

Please Note: Any advice given comes with the caveat that nothing will be suitable for every situation.

One thing I always forget to test... can I put a negative number in the surrender field so that the offer is for the other party to pay?

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

He disbanded.

The mails aren't very specific, you'll get a surrender notification and the like when corps hop in and out of alliances, etc.

You should always have ganker alts to deal with people leaving or disbanding corp to escape a good old wardec. There is no escaping, yes...

Check if the corporation is closed

If the CEO closes the corp it will automatically say they have surrendered and there will be no offer
