Is it time for Unlimited (Duration) Trials?

I've been debating bringing this up, but it seems to me that expanding the trial mechanic could have long term benefits to the game. I know several people who would definitely play if they could do it without subbing continuously.

Keep them limited to T1 ships and nothing better than a Cruiser, no strategic skills, no advanced skills, and whatever other restrictions may be necessary, perhaps no speaking in Local or something like that. It would also be a feature you can use on full accounts: if they let their subs lapse, they can still login and play, but are stuck with the Trial restrictions.

Thoughts? Trolls? IBTL?

For the sake of not empty posting: CCP would basically never make money from new accounts. I struggle to see how that's a good thing for them.

I talk about EVE trading and general space violence in my blog.

EULA allows for no more than 30 days, which I don't think is unreasonable.

It's a grace period in which someone can evaluate the game and decide if it's right for them.

How many people would play the game long term if they were forever limited to the play you listed?

I think CCP is very much in line with ethical business practices and has a right to expect that if someone wants to play the game, they follow the subscription model that helps continue to develop and add content that will keep it interesting for that same player.

Just imagine all the isoboxers with catalysts, ganking your ships (which require a sub) for free.

I am even a suicide ganker, and I believe this to be a bad idea.

Not just a "nope" level of bad, but a "Oh, hell no!" level.

Think of it, cyno alts and scouts in as many systems as you want and not a penny to pay.

No thanks.

I think the op's heart is in the right place, but there is no way in heck this will work with Eve, for the above mentioned reasons.

30 days I could go for. Give people a chance to learn the game. Anything past that "NO".
