TLDR; Ripard Teg's highly public, inflammatory attack blog-post on Erotica 1 is highly inappropriate behavior for anyone privileged enough to represent both CCP and the EVE playerbase on the CSM. The CSM should not be a platform from which to launch personal attacks on fellow members of the EVE Community he supposedly represents. His actions reflect poorly on CCP and he should be removed from the CSM immediately.


While the CSM is ostensibly an elected body that was created to represent the EVE playerbase, CCP also considers CSM members to be representing CCP.

If a CSM member conducts himself in a way that embarrasses CCP, they reserve the right to remove them from their elected position (ie. The Mittani) - or prevent them from participating in the election entirely. (Fon Revedhort, Xenuria)

These attacks were both highly personal and made without regard for its destructive and polarizing effect on the Eve Community as a whole. Really, is it any suprise that Erotica 1 is getting threats?
After all, who wouldn't threaten a 'Vile, Evil, Compassionless torturer', when a CCP/EVE Community rep heavily implies action should be taken?

Erotica 1, I am sure, is taking it with aplomb.
It does not change the undeniable fact that Ripard Teg flagrantly abused the visibility of his position on the CSM to attack a fellow EVE player. Thus, that privilege needs to be revoked at the earliest opportunity and an apology should be rendered.

There was a thread just like this with almost the same exact thread name that got locked.

I was busy writing the OP before it was even posted and, apparently locked.

Either way, the other thread deals entirely with the appropriateness of Erotica 1's content creation.


THIS is dealing with Ripard Teg's vile actions and whether or not he should remain as a CSM Rep.

EDIT: CCP Falcon should take note.


Different topic, different thread.

Both come to the conclusion that Ripard Teg should be removed, sounds like the same topic and thread to me.

Also if you really want your voice to be heard then post in the right forum.

Ripard was IMO out of line, not sure if he was far enough out of line to be booted from the CSM.

I'm less likely to vote for him now though (wouldn't have anyway but I'm certain now). But he's not responsible for the threats that have been made after his post.

Apparently a serious discussion about whether or not Ripard Teg should remain as a representative OF a community, when he feels it is perfectly acceptable to launch personal attacks on individual members of that community - is now Trolling.

Yet a 100 page threadnaught attacking Erotica 1 is 'game on' for CCP Falcon.

Good to see the spirit of fair play is alive and well in the Dev Corps.

Inb4 Ripard wears wizard hat and drunkenly tells Eve citizens to grief Erotica 1 during Fanfest.

I support Teg’s opinion, and feel myself better represented on the CSM with him on it.

Hey, great minds think alike. Took me a bit to edit the OP and find the appropriate quotes - in the process didn't even know another thread on an identical topic. I didn't say you were trolling - Falcon did when he locked your thread.

I certainly agree that Ripard Teg went way over the line on this one.

Calling for his removal doesn't belong in the 'threadnaught' because that thread was primarily directed at what people think of Erotica 1 and whether or not 'the bonus room' goes too far.

THIS is a thread that seriously investigates whether or not Ripard Teg should remain as a CSM rep after conducting himself in a highly inappropriate way. And further, does CCP want to be represented by this type of loose cannon 'calling out' of fellow EVE players?

I personally think an apology should be tendered to Erotica 1 from Ripard - at a minimum.
However removal from the CSM AND an apology should not be ruled out.

I personally feel only the apology is due.

Not an apology for Ripard holding those opinions - he's welcome to do so - but an apology for not pulling it down when it was clear that his blog was provoking RL threats.

And for that matter, for portraying Mr "I will hunt you mother ******* down and gut your ******* asses" as a naive saint.
