The day that CCP devotes resources to holding the hands of players and protecting them from other players is the day that EVE dies and becomes yet another generic world of warcraft clone.

There are already limits. You can scam someone, take advantage of them, blow up their internet spaceships, declare war against their corporation, etc. This is a sandbox game.

If you were personally threatened (as in, threats against your real life person) then you need to contact CCP, they will take care of you and they will act in such situations. If you got scammed, conned, war-decced, exploded, hunted down and blown up over and over and cancelled your accounts due to this - perhaps the right move would have been to learn from your mistakes and not make them again?

Anyway, judging by your equating in game actions with "cyber-bullying" and accusing CCP of tolerating this - it's probably best that you quit Eve. CCP does not tolerate threatening other players and they will act against accounts that cross this line. If this is what happened to you, you should have flexed right rights under the EULA and asked CCP to step in.

Somehow, I doubt this is what happened.

So, what's the full story?

Yes I am talking about Erotica 1 and others like him.

I encourage others to cancel their alts as well to force CCP to clean up some of the worst aspects of EVE.

Enough is enough. There are limits. Cyber-bullying has no place in this game, or anywhere else.

If enough of us cancel our third of fourth alts for a month of two, CCP will act and clean up the community.

CANCEL SUBSCRIPTIONS UNTIL CCP ACTS.

We get to laugh at the person for being stupid. I mean, come on. . . LOL! How dumb do you have to be to be?

What you don't seem to understand is that we're all here, living through EvE because we can't cut it offline. If we tried to be our true selves, there would be true consequences of our actions.

Here on EvE, we get to be the person we want to be, better than everyone else and proving it with yours and everyone else's stupidity. And there's nothing you can do about it!

Grow up, understand that we will always be better than you and dance. Make me laugh, clown.

Shocked You're talking to me ? Shocked

Please get to the point, we don't have all day. (see, you're not the only one talking non sense).

I think it's wrong to do this **** on people... You can do so much bad stuff in the game and it's great!! But when it gets out of hand and EVE is only a platform for some people to find victims like pedophiles do in chatrooms for kids (holy **** that comparisson!!!) that's just wrong...

I told my brother this story. He doesn't play EVE and he said something interesting: In the earlier days people had jesters to do demeaning stuff for people so that they can laugh. Today some people have online platforms like EVE for this.

i just can't understand how one can find so much joy in putting a human beeing in so much misery... i also know there are people out there who can't handle the game itself. The question is, where is the line really?

There is no full story. i see enough bullying and humiliation in real life, and i dont want to see it in EVE as well.

As you grow older you realize more and more that this sort of behaviour is not ok at all. Younger guys think its all LOL and HTFU. Older guys see things differently.

I have been playing this game for 10 years give or take, and I came to realize that if we as eve players dont start doing something about our spaceship community, we are just allowing trash to dictate terms of the game to us.

And I will be damned it i am forced to play in an environment that facilitates exploitation and sadism. Either it changes, or I will leave - EVE is not unique.

Dumb idiots who fall for Erotica's scams are why he/she is still around. Stop feeding the trolls and stop being stupid as well as greedy.

I discourage running with scissors.

I honestly wouldn't cancel until CCP officially says...well something. If anything. Jumpin the gun just unsubbing right this second wont help a thing imo.

Agreed.
It is late night in Iceland, and CCP takes a long time to move on something like this.
It took them days to move on the failed lawyer, and that was with way more negative publicity than has happened, so far.

Anyone who wants to unsub, I would recommend waiting until at least Thursday to see if the publicity machine picks up steam.

But, that being said, I am guessing CCP just hunkers down and tries to ride it out.
Remember, CCP condones, even celebrates this kind of behaviour.
I, for the life of me, can't understand why, but they do.

They will likely think that ANY publicity is a good thing.

I stopped recommending Eve to other people some time ago. It has it moments but its not worth the risk of them getting harassed.

What are they going to say.

Watch out for scams
If you don't like being on other peoples comms, log off them?

Not true. I don't think this kind of thing has ever really shown up, at this level, in the game before. Saying CCP condones this level of asshattery is a bit of a stretch.

Again, the scam isn't the issue. It's what happened after the items were taken. If CCP comes out and supports THAT...well...we'll see I suppose.

Sometimes i wonder if you people have contact with the internet outside eve at all.

Eve is in fact one of the better games.

And if the forums are the problem do what the 9 out of 10 people do. Don't read them.

Well fun is also good.

You assume that I am a "younger guy" and that if I was only "older" I would see things in another light. I'm already old, and I don't.

It's probably best that you leave. You are playing the wrong game. There's plenty of MMO's out there. If you were threatened in a out of game context, or specific language was used (racial slurs, homophobic slurs, etc) - file a petition and CCP will deal with it. If not, quit trying to screw up the game on your way out the door, k?

You see, referring to other players as "trash" is not going to get you very far. It's hard to seem like the "good guy" when you are hurling insults around.

I say punish that person, ban him, all his alts - ccp should have no problem getting all of them - ban all his friends taking part in that torture.

Its not about the scam - if people are stupid enough to fail to that scams, ok.

But torturing people just is beyond anything that can be tolerated.
Thats a crime. Even if it's the victims own fault.

Lets see what ccp does. If they fail to react i'll sure as hell will unsub.

Just thought I'd throw that in here for no apparent reason.
