Renting In EvE is not a Corporation and Alliances Topic

IMO the discussion of renting is a generic subject. Renting affects all players both in alliances and out of alliances. As such it is not a topic that belongs in COAD unless it specifically references the renting practices of a specific alliance.

My question is do you feel that discussion of renting should be prohibited in general discussion? Should null sec in general, which is typically inhabited only by alliances be prohibited from discussion and only confined to COAD.

Likewise should any large scale fleet battle, which usually only involves alliances be prohibited from discussion unless its in COAD?

Thoughts?

Don't think.
CCP would prefer you do as little thinking as possible while you give them your money....

Oh, and COAD is where they send threads to die so.....IBTL.

Renting is turning into a pretty huge thing in Eve and needs to be discussed in general terms.

The reason. Well the MASSIVE coalitions have less and less reason to not do deal like BL and CFC have done to protect their income. The industry changes are also very much tied into the whole renting thing.

One reason to have a thread here is that the topic affects a lot of players who might not be able to post in CAOD.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

Renting is player action in player controlled space.
As such, I think its nominally fine.
I don't think CCP has any business touching renting in and of itself.

They can and probably should however play around with what null is, and other mechanics to make renting a less prevalent player activity.

i'm not sure why this thread was created... Maybe some other thread was moved to CAOD?

Anyway in GD we either don't discuss ANYTHING related to 0.0-sov and alliances or discuss ANYTHING related to them.

I agree with your assessment, OP. Enough with moderation based on key words rather than content.

If renting could only be discussed in CAOD how would a corp interested in renting find out about renting if they weren't in an alliance already?

A topic belongs where ever the owners of the board says it belongs. Don't like it, make your own board (like Kugu did).

So what CCP do, is when something gets hot or contensious or they want to hide it away they either lock it or move it where the general populus can not talk about it. The only people in CAOD is nullsec alliances, so they will just troll the post or be against it. Voila CCP ignores the issue. But hey whats new, just makes me wanna unsub when they act like this.

The more they moderate and ignore the more people just leave.

So you're saying you don't know the posting rules of COAD. I find that amazing.

Never put it past members of the "oldest democracy in the world" to arbitrarily curtail free speech in the mistaken belief their personal opinions, and [even] office consensus constitute fact.

Personally, I think the "renting condition" that has realized itself as a prevailing condition of the sandbox was in all likelihood a natural consequence to the fall of BoB with no significant alliance or corp to replace them in the vacume created by their overthrow. It's something that just begged to be attempted, one could say.

Any criticism of it, that I've seen, has been purely preferential, and no real deleterious effect has ever been specifically stated by any critic, aside from the observation that it's "boring," which in itself isn't necessarily detrimental to the sandbox. After all, BoB occupying that huge amount of map it once did was boring, as well...at least to me, (and such things are [again] purely preferential.)

To me, in my view, from what I see (and can tell), the way to rid the sandbox of something as boring as the renting condition, or the BoBs of the universe, is the same. Raise a HUGE navy, (corporation, alliance, confederation of alliances), go out there and whammo! Put a decisive end to it. (May take a week and it may take longer - thanks Jim Morrison.)

Just realize, having accomplished that, you too will be faced with converting a huge section of the sandbox into something that's...the object of criticism, seemingly deleterious to the "game", or even...boring?

If you don't like how it's being done, show us how to do it better.

Thank-you very much.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

I agree with your first contention. But your conclusion does not follow. I personally have no problem with renters. That is what people do when they have more space than they can use.
