Scythe fleet issue

The scythe fi is one of the most curious ships to me. In this vessel we observe an antiquated design philosophy for eve online ships that curiously takes its inspiration from real life. I am making this thread not to assess its power level relative to other ships but to gain ideas and insight in to situations where it could be or has been successful.

Some thoughts are: fitting 3x artillery and 2x rlml for frigate hunting in lowsec. If you fail to volley the target you can burn them down slowly with missiles.

secondly you have the 4x ham 1x ac fit. Fighting other cruisers is a challenge not only because of their own stats but because most cruisers have decent drone bays. The hams fight th cruiser while your ac grinds the drones off.

Thirdly you can fit 4x ac and 1x hml on an armour fit. Perfect for those situations where some flexible backup dps is required on a hilariously fast platform.

has anyone got comments or critique? I am basing this off my experience with games like mechwarrior and typhoon fleet issue

I tried a heavy tackler once. It had 425mm AC x 4 and one HAM. 40k EHP shield tanked and 788 DPS overheated with damage implants. It was lost it's maiden voyage when our fleet unwisely engaged Minmatar WT on a gate in Lulm. Suddenly Exequerors everywhere. I felt it was a solid fit. The only reason I haven't put it back together is my corp's preference for armor tankers.

It does everything. It is super fast and has a tiny sig. You can fit it a million different ways which is an advantage. Best navy cruiser by far.

But why do I never see anyone fly it? Isn't it technically the best cruiser skirmisher? I guess under the old rlml it would have been way op

If you want to be frigate killer, fit it with lights missiles and neuts or light missiles and 220's
Dual prop it for extra dunks but personally I don't like using RLML's on it.

We fly it. It is awesome.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

It's a very solid ship. Scythe Fleet performs best when fit with either missiles or ACs. Trying to mix weapon systems weakens the overall fit.

My two favorite fits are;

The 650 Arty Scythe for fleet. Fly it as a skirmishing comp with Huginn webs or Bellicose TP and it's great. Kinda like a cheaper Muninn gang.

The 3 425s+2 HAMs + large asb is great as a solo brawler. I use it to catch kiting ships like the Caracal, Cynabal or Cerb. It puts out 500+ dps

I don't like RML because it doesn't have the range bonus like the Caracal does

High Five. Yeah! C'est La Eve .

Agreed, One of the best cruisers around.

Almost univeraal praise? I always saw people saying that split weapon ships were terrible?

Fleet phoon is an oversized version of this same ship but I don't really see them at all. Is it the same story or just too expensive for use?

Scythe fleet used to be an amazing ship, and I flew it extensively. However after. The RLM nerf it is now really a sub par ship. Autocannons or arty with out a tracking or falloff bonus are complete ****. The new RLMs are worthless, and. Fitting HAMs or HMLs to a ship that has no innate application or missile velocity bonus is also a really bad idea.

The ship, while not the worst thing- is completely outperformed by a number of other platforms currently, and is a poor choice for the frigate nd EAF heavy meta we are in currently.

ScyFI isn't a split weapon ship though. The classic version of split weapon would have been more along the lines of 6 highs, 4 turret slots, 4 launcher slots and a 25% bonus to each weapon system, making either choice poor against the competition, and a focus on both a nightmare to fit enough damage mods (BCU's and Gyros.) The ScyFI is a dual weapon bonused ship, with powerful bonuses to each weapon system making it not directly inferior.

Against a comparable HAM Caracal fit, it gets a little more cap life, about 20% more EHP, slightly less DPS (10%) but a bit more volley (20%), goes substantially faster (30%), and aligns more quickly. It also has a utility high you could use to try and fit a gun for more DPS to match the Caracal, or alternately fit a neutralizer. It also has more drones.

Against a comparable fit Armour Rupture, it has a similar tank, more cap life, much higher speed, more DPS, better cap life, and an extra mid (extra web? Dual prop? Both?) all with similar other stats. Against a Shield Rupture the difference is immense, with it gaining a lot more everything (50% EHP, 50% speed, faster align, smaller sig, more DPS, only downside is a small neut to a medium.)

So basically what I'm saying is it's not a ******** split weapon system ship of old where you NEED to fully fit it with both weapon systems and try to cram something useful together to make it work, it gives you a ship which is at the least comparable to the competition in a focused role, if not better, while also being able to operate as a split weapon ship.

The RLM changes affected the navy scythe and osprey a lot, before that they could even be considered a little OP. The Nomen shines as the leader in the class now..C:

we have an entire fleet comp based on it. 4x ac and 1x neut. 10mn AB brawler
