I kinda got bored with the security mission so I took a look at mining missions.

I must say this is probably the most boring thing I have ever seen at least for lv1-2. All missions are about the same, they all have the exact ore quantity needed for the mission and nothing more. If you have drone lv2 you can just let the drones handle some stray rat but you can also ignore.

It's worse than wow quests, you get to the quest area and there are 4 pigs, you kill them and mission complete. It's like security missions where you only have the "complete" trigger ships and nothing else.

CCP needs to make some changes:

- add extra ore there, thing of this like the "escort" ore.....

- spread the ore at random. It's always the same rock of exactly 2000m3

- add some occasional low-sec, null-sec ore just as the random/special/faction spawns from security.

- add more mission or at least change their names, there are like 5 of them. CCP added dozens of mining agents but there are 5 missions.

- make some random missions. Missions need 2-3 types of ore at random but with actual trigger to make sure it gets mined.

The way mining missions look now is like an incomplete, half done job.

Lvl 3 and 4 missions will blow your mind. Just dont do them ever. They make you have to mine 40k ore so you need to make 2 trips or take another with you and to make things worse they increase the distance you need to travel. If you want to grind standings just do loads of lvl 3 security. More cash and less brain death.

Anyway this mining missions look like a very bad developer hours investment from CCP.

- CCP created a lot of mining agents but only like 5 missions/level.

- they are so borring that probably nobody does them.

- you don't get anything from them except the mission ore. It's like you would do security missions where no lot drops or salvage Probably another reason very few players run them. That is if any players run them at all.

One fix would be to add some standard ore in this missions....

Sometimes you get ice mining missions, which are also boring, but at least doable solo. (Without flying two times, I mean.)

On the other hand, sometimes you get gas mining missions. Those are special. You'll either need a combat cruiser to tank the rats constantly attacking you, or again, a buddy watching over your venture. At least that mission is kind of interesting, I guess.

Or just do yr mining missions in a 1.0-0.8 system where there are no rats. Also its less isk/hr then just setting a venture onto a veldspar in perimeter and going next door to watch TV. Mining missions are truely pointless in their current state. You can get standings faster by spamming dist missions for storylines and more isk by doing combat missions.

i see it your way, and distribution arent much better (they have their place so). But i dont see how mining missions could be made interesting without breaking it.

How can mining missions be broken more than they are now? All you can do is mine x amount of the quest ore and that's it. And the occasion rat....

If security missions were like mining mission they would look like this: One ships for the complete trigger, no loot and no salvage. The end! Oh, yea, and some random rat that shoots your ship for 1 dmg.

Security missions are about combat ships so you can shoot more ships than the mission require, get loot and extra money.

So mining missions are about mining Roll. You should be able to do some extra mining. Probably the mining missions were made by new dev guy from CCP that had no clue what he was doing.

What's even more stupid, you can do mining in some security missions as if security mission runners have nothing better to do...

Ventures can speed tank the lvl 4 gas missions very well. Orbit the gas cloud, fit some shield modules and deploy Hob II to take out the mission rats.

But overall, mining missions can be revamped. I have little interest in doing them.

Try features and ideas? The mining missions are the worst source of income that I know.

You're better off mining in a L3 security after you've cleared the room. They have some big roids in there.

And the point of this thread is that the Mining missions should be buffed for example by adding some standard ore, some Ice or some rare minerals at random.

Adding the extra asteroids in the mining mission would solve the income problem a bit.

Sometimes Ive needed some quick standings, and there was a L3 mining agent nearby. I found if I dumped an orca alt in system at a safe spot, links running, suddenly mining missions became much easier. The strips typically have the range to reach the roids without moving, and the ore just floods in. You get there, rip through the rocks and get back quite fast. An easy way to build standings.

Then again I would not mind if mining missions contained other mineable materials.

Right, and by suggesting a feature to add to existing content the best place to make such a suggestion is the F&I sub-forum. Or you could comment on the many fix PVE threads already in existance in the F&I forum to avoid redundancy.

Well, that's just stupid. You should do your missions in as close to 0.5 as possible. You lose 10% LP and ISK for every step above 0.5. (LowSec would of course even better, if you want to be special. But let's stay in HighSec for a moment.)

The rats I was talking about are spawned by the gas mining mission I mentioned. So even if you get this mission in a 1.0-system, you still need a combat cruiser or at least a comparable tank.

Go do lvl4 mining missions in Nullsec, adds a bit of fun, and level 4's have a bit more mission variety.
