Recruiting Channel A Total Disgrace

Hello everyone,

This topic has been on my mind and may not be in the right place, but something has to be said, here goes...

Even today while trying to recruit potential members for my corp. it has become literally impossible to do so with the all of the side conversations going on. This I'm sure even for experienced CEOs has become a nightmare when trying to advertise that you are recruiting. The way it is set up now is beyond repair to even allow new players a chance to see who is recruiting and what not.

This I know has to be frustrating for the new members of Eve to sit there and see chat that's totally UNRELATED to recruiting and it also encourages scamming tactics as well. It's a shame that this is not helping the community at large and I think that maybe other CEOs may have a different opinion to which I respect.

I am for all purposes being diplomatic about this issue and wanted to raise awareness to you and to CCP, that a house cleaning in this channel needs to be done in order to facilitate recruiting members at large, and to ensure a better quality of life not only for the newcomers, but veterans as well.

What you say is true.

But I have always been of the opinion that recruiting random folk from the recruitment channel is like hiring employees from a bus stop.

That said, anyone called McCandless can be in my corp.

Just the other day a fine gentlemen from that channel offered my alt a position in his crafting guild. Maybe you are doing it wrong?

Doesn't matter anyway OP.
Everyone in the recruitment channel is a recruiter, an awoxer or a spy. There are no new players in it.

Lies!

there are also us bored folks using it for Channel PVP.

CCP's policy on bad behavior has always been "go for it, unless it's against newbies"

To crack down on bad behavior in the Recruitment channel would go against this. They already protect the newbies in Rookie Chat.

The Recruitment Channel is an open sewer.

Just the way I like it.

Now if only all those corps would stop spamming their adverts so I could actually converse in peace!

Tell your corp mates that discussions are for corp chat. Recruitment is for recruitment chat. If they don't do what you tell them then ban from the chat. I know its kind of nazi'ish but if the person banned is anything short of a ****** then they will understand what happened without getting their panties in a twist.

Or make it standard protocol that only recruiters and potential recruits are allowed in the channel.

@ Op, recruiting channel is the corpthief's main hangout, you'll be 10x more exposed to them there. So pay no attention to it and keep posting adds on forums or actively looking for new players in new player systems or elsewhere.

Believe me, you'll want to go down this route instead. Goodluck !

Poor guy thinks the recruiting channel is for recruiting. I bet he thinks the mining channel is for miners too.

Everyone sure you don't have anything better to do than to create threads like this one?

Recruitment is a problem, how does a corp know who to let in and how do you trust anyone inviting you to their corp. Explains why there is a million tiny corp's flying around.

The recruitment channel may as well be called "The Target Finder Channel".

If you're a highsec corp it really doesn't matter who you let in. It can be annoying if someone AWOXes, but without a POS or a stocked hanger in a station somewhere - they aren't going to do much unless you give them director roles.

As long as people aren't flying stupidly blingy ships, then it isn't a big deal.

the recruitment channel itself is not a particularly important aspect of the whole "recruiting" thing.

Go to Recruitment channel.
Be yourself.
Wait for that to rustle someone's jimmies.
Enjoy sperg flame and criticism.
Declare war.
Undock throbbing murderboners with your posse of giggling homicidal maniacs.
Begin unjust lessons in manners.

So you'd rather see massive full page ads for terrible corps than any sort of chat? Last time I checked, good recruitment required communication. The spam in that chat really is the couple of corps that post giant messages preventing other corps from being seen. People chatting doesn't contribute to chat scrolling half as much.

I do a good amount of recruiting. One of the first things I learned is that the recruitment channel is a cesspool. To be perfectly honest, CCP should just get rid of it, not direct new players there. Unless it has changed in recent years, which I assume it hasn't or this thread would not exist, it has just got to be turning new players off and costing subs.

No good deed goes unpunished
