For those more technically savy among us, I ask this question. Would a 64-bit client improve the EvE experience?

Just wondering.

No. None of the benefits 64-bit provide make any difference or are particularly relevant to the EVE client.

I know right. Next I guess we'll debate about Eve dying.

It'll make as much difference as that pair of 20-finger gloves.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

But I have 20 fingers!

Actually it would only make a difference Client side.

The main benefit of 64 bit, is that you can use more than 2GB of ram for a single process.

Eve rarely comes close to that. thus, no significant benefit.

That benefit comes with costs:
A: It restricts it to 64 bit OS. So to support 32bit, you have to support 2 different clients. Which means you have to optimize for the 32 bit one anyway.
B: 64 bit registers are bigger. Thus you're actually throwing more data around. If you don't need that size, it's a waste.

Woo! CSM XI!

I can confirm that 32 and 64 are 28 and 54 in base twelve.

I hope that helps.

Confirming base 12 is superior to base 10 in every way. Lowest number with 4 divisors rules fractional representations.

I got that reference, I feel somehow relevant now.
