It's kinda sad that CCP is moving away from EVE's lore...

They're not moving away from the lore, its simply not worth V3ing their models at the moment because they're not used ingame, hence removing them is easier then upgrading.

The Coreli Corporation is recruiting.

So i noticed regarding this. I had the Phantom Ship in my bio since i really love it's design. Since the removal, i have been unable to edit my bio.

I just hope that someday, they might return as playable hulls, but then again, thats a bit to much fun lol

I second to that! I think its about time yeah. I mean, we have the Sansha ships in our hands, and lore wise, they are based on jove tech, yes? Or atleast thats what i read some time ago.

Think you're confusing them with Angels. The angel pirate ships have some re-engineered old jove tech integrated to them.

Sansha's Nation on the other hand developed advanced technology by themselves (compared to the four empires). Only Jove tech they used was the Capsule, which all nations had (Kuvakei just went a bit further).

Im not, i read it somewhere where it was a hint that they had some jove tech. i do know well that the angels are using old jove ships.

Ah, might be the Wormhole-generator you refer to. Still alot of speculation about it's origins really. Or any of the other advanced tech they deployed during the Nation Live Events (nanites, fast learning, advanced cloning, mindtransfers etc).
But as Sansha's capital fleet has been spotted in Jove space during the Nation Live Events, it's likely they got hold on Jove tech now(Sansha ships are own design tho) Whatever this tech could be is unknown at the time.

Jove was their position at the time

ah dammit, wrong devs

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.

I have to say as a player since week 1 - I'd really love of there to be a full Jove expansion for EVE... the races as a whole just seem very generic nowadays and not as unique.

Bring back Jove ships and events Lol

Just in case, I've marked on of my characters as not-skillable, so I can biomass him without regrets in the event of something like this. Just on the little chance I that I maybe can make a Jove-character eventually.

I have my own theory. I think their removal is part of the building up to the new space to colonize. If that is so, then they probably removed them because they intend to revamp and place them into a modern Eve setting. Freshly painted and equipment with eons worth of advancement that you poor capsuleers have no hope of stopping. You thought Sansha Incursions were bad. Muahahahaha.... Twisted

They did cut out model files too, not only DB entries.

Former links to Jove ships info are no linger links, but not plain text either. Had them in Brunhilde Tahl's bio, now its broken. It doesnt show right, changes done dont save, cant replace or delete those entries.

Saved fittings window is broken too. Cause I had several fittings of Jove ships imported.
We fixed the fitting window a day or two later if I recall correctly. It's still pending to clean up fittings that reference these ships that don't exist anymore.

I really appreciate Jove being a mystery, rather keep it that way if EVE has to live 30+ years.
It's always very difficult to remove content. In this case the Jove are not being removed, they are still a part of the lore and their space is still there. But we removed art assets and item types because we hadn't renovated these art assets.

I don't think this was intentional. This was tweeted to Erlendur, and he seemed suprised and fwded it to the Art department to have them look into it. Take that with a grain of salt, btw - I didn't look into it past that.
Yes, I didn't know about it and when I dug into it then the removal had been done incorrectly, both in terms of communication and the actual removal itself. The removal was done properly and a patchnote added for the release. We then post-deployment discovered issues in saved fittings, worked around that with a client patch and will remove these saved fittings later.

So Explorer, can we expect to see the Jove make any appearances in game in the future. I understand the need to keep information about new content a secret and if the Jove were to be utilized for that purpose we wouldn't know about it until a release, but has anyone in CCP toyed with the idea of somehow re-integrating them to the world? Just curious... I guess has there been interest or discussion about it?

P.S. Thumbs Up to CCP on the SOE Ships!! Big smile

Actually, on that note, it could be very easy to re-introduce them as playable ships without even opening up Jove Space. All you'd have to do is leave ships themselves abandoned or their BPC's available in say extremely rare anomaly sites. Make the sites pop up like once a week/month and in a completely random location. If the scanners are out there they maybe lucky enough to find one.

The site could be set up in several ways. I envision a lone object. Either a ship itself abandoned, say the crew died from Jove's disease and the ship has been a drift ever since or a mysterious cargo container with a BPC. In either event make the ship/can a hack able object and the most difficult one in the game courteous of the Jove tech. You fail it blows up like a Ghost bomb. You succeed and can either collect the BPC from the can or eject from your ship and take off in the vessel, assuming you have the skills to do so. Perhaps make it tougher still. The ship itself could have taken centuries of damage and aging leaving all equipment destroyed and the hull in a critical state. Leave some carbon, scrap metal, or rare but useless artifacts in the cargo hold.

Then it becomes a rat race. Literally. Null sec people better not get caught but gate rats or campers!!! In high sec every ganker would love to kill you in this thing before you get to station!

If the ships are obtained by building them through collected BPC's then make them utilize extremely rare and expensive materials. Maybe make them uses things you've never even heard of, but might find in those pesky Angel Cartel sites or Ghost sites. Now, suddenly, there is another mad rush to find those locations.

Don't know.

It would be an absolute shame if they were.

This is taking a step backwards, nothing should be removed from a product.

But, with some of the lore lately. I hope that the Jove will be brought back into the light and not pushed aside for a chance at larger profits.
