I have an alt about to inject the HAC skillbook in six days. He already has Gallente Strategic Cruiser I and the five subsystems at III for now. I'm trying to get a feel of potential fits before I invest any money into a hull. For my EFT fitting I gave my character HAC IV and raised the Gallente subsystem skills to IV as well. No other skills were touched. I am keeping fitted modules to <=T2 for now.

Ranges with Antimatter are 20700m Optimal + 26208m Falloff

176m Signature
Targeting 78km (no fleet bonus)

Subsystems
Proteus Offensive - Hybrid Propulsion Armature
Proteus Defensive - Adaptive Augmenter
Proteus Engineering - Power Core Multiplier
Proteus Electronics - CPU Efficiency Gate
Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors

Low slots
800mm Reinforced Steel Plates II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
Medium Remote Armor Repairer II ??? or other potential utility high. I have a character with a Noctis that can clean up missions, so a tractor beam isn't needed. I disabled this module when comparing cap recharge rates and deciding on what cap recharge modules/rigs were needed

Ammo Bay
Javelin M
Caldari/Federation Navy Antimatter Charge M
Spike M / Caldari/Federation Navy Lead Charge M

Rigs
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Drone Bay

Drones_Inactive=Hammerhead II,5

Deimos

544 DPS turrets / 82.4 DPS Hobgoblin II
17604 Effective Armor HP vs uniform damage

200 EHP/s repair cap stable
270m/s -> 662m/s AB
150m Signature
Targeting 102km (no fleet bonus)

Low slots
400mm Reinforced Steel Plates II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Explosive Membrane II
Medium Armor Repairer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Mid slots
10MN Afterburner II
Tracking Computer II,Optimal Range Script
Cap Recharger II
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I

HIgh slots
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II
250mm Railgun II

Ammo Bay
Javelin M

Spike M / Caldari/Federation Navy Lead Charge M

Rigs
Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
Medium Hybrid Collision Accelerator II

Drone Bay
Drones_Active=Hobgoblin II,5
{Spare Hobgoblins or other light drones}

Pros/Cons of these fits
Proteus has slightly higher damage output with rails (and even more so if using medium drones - see below)
Proteus has MUCH more EHP buffer and higher resists (would be useful with incoming reps)
Proteus has enough room in the drone bay for a full flight of light and medium drones, for even more DPS versus large targets
Proteus has a utility high (could be used to remote repair drones between rooms for example)
Deimos repairs slightly more EHP/s
Deimos is faster and more agile
Deimos has the locking range to exploit the full potential of Spike ammo whereas even with fleet bonuses Proteus is just entering that range
Deimos has 4th mid slot for a web to make short work of pesky NPC elite frigates with Hobgoblin II's
Deimos has higher Scan Resolution, Sensor Strength (not always needed for NPCs), and a smaller Signature Radius

The Proteus has a higher need for cap modules/rigs with this type of build. I have no problem taking a ship that isn't totally cap stable into a mission or anomaly as long as I can toggle the repair modules as needed and never need incoming capacitor or repairs to maintain my tank.

I know there is a lot of overlap with this thread about PvP fits. Tracking won't be nearly as much of an issue with NPCs and buffer EHP is obviously a lower priority as well.

Suggestions are welcome.Big smile

You can config a PvE Proteus that will do much more dps, here's how I would fit it and the Deimos. Numbers reflect an all V char.

[Deimos, Shield PvE]

Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Co-Processor II

10MN Afterburner II
Medium Shield Booster II
EM Ward Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II

250mm Railgun II, Spike M
250mm Railgun II, Spike M
250mm Railgun II, Spike M
250mm Railgun II, Spike M
250mm Railgun II, Spike M

Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I

Hammerhead II x5

Does 533DPS with Spike, 757 with Javelin.

[Proteus, Drone PvE]

Medium Armor Repairer II
Damage Control II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

10MN Afterburner II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II

250mm Railgun II, Spike M
250mm Railgun II, Spike M
250mm Railgun II, Spike M
Drone Link Augmentor II
Drone Link Augmentor II
Core Probe Launcher II, Sisters Core Scanner Probe

Medium Anti-Explosive Pump I
Medium Anti-Explosive Pump I
Medium Anti-EM Pump I

Proteus Offensive - Drone Synthesis Projector
Proteus Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Proteus Defensive - Nanobot Injector
Proteus Electronics - CPU Efficiency Gate

Or just use an Ishtar/domi with 750-800 dps from gardes@50km optimal.

On the Proteus, unless you're planning to spider-tank with a partner, I would swap the adaptive augmentor for the nanobot injector sub. This would let you add a 3rd Mag Stab, and swap the plate for either a 2nd Repairer, 2nd EANM, or another hardener specific to whichever damage is expected. The Dissolution Sequencer would give the added targeting range and sensor strength if you're not too tight on CPU.

Also the Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner was only 22mil when I picked one up, and uses less cap for more speed bonus. You might find that worth it.

As sexy as the Proteus is, though, the Deimos will cost less than half as much, give the same dps + drones and active-tank bonus. Not saying it's a better option, just cheaper. >=)

Good luck!

Edit: just realized it was my railgun-prote thread you linked to, so I clipped out some of the redundant stuff. Was pretty happy with how it worked last night. Happy hunting.

Your figures seem kinda low. I'm thinking a Brutix would be better than either of those.
