I'm pretty sure they said they were planning to do this when they first updated the ones we got right now, however that was quite some time ago by now.

I dont agree every modul should be visible as someone suggested (power cores, plates, shield boosters,... theese all can and should be hidden) but surely, every mod that interacts with outside of ship (remote reps, probe launchers,...) should be visible...

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

Totally supporting this idea!
Those visual modules should differ in Types, e.g. armor reppers may look a bit like a torchlase, while shield trasfer modules could look more like an antenna or something.

I personally think leave it to the art dep, but yeah they should be visually distinguishable

I support this idea, I would love to see the drone control mods, neuts and nosferatu, cynosural field, remote repair, remote sensor boosting, and other high-slot modules have their own models that I could look at when flying my ship.

A Guardian with a full rack of cranes or whatever would look neat.

I would love to see models for utility highs, especially logi/nos/probe stuff.. maybe even a cloaking device.
We don't know what the art dept. is up to @ CCP, but lets hope they are working on this stuff. Or at least working on updating some of the old hull models.. The Burst and Bantam and Griffin could use some love lol.

This would be cool, but would be a pain to implement.
It would be awesome to get models for ewar modules too, unlikely to see anytime soon though, they would have to remodel every ship for midslot hardpoints to show up, on top of creating the models for the modules.

As for the passive defensive modules, Shield extenders would probably be the easiest to visually represent, but I can't think of an easy universal way to make armor plating show up on every ship without looking awkward and making content for each hull individually.

I'd personally like to see models for all remote effect modules (a module that either has an effect on anything outside the ship fitted or its drones):
guns and launchers (done)
DD (dunno if they've been done or not....)
smart bombs
probe launchers, (inc diction probe launcher)
diction sphere generator
RR, Xfers, Ewar, points/tackle, E-support (rSeBo, rTC, rECCM)
salver (done)
relic and data analyzers
ship, cargo, survey scanners
warfare/mining links
cyno (and covert)
bridge (and covert)



NOT
cloak
AB/MWD
self reps (though I like the looks when these are activated)
drone upgrades
target spectrum breaker (technically, it's a self-affecting module)

True, this has been suggested several times but the threads all died out...

Completely doable, but i would like to see even mid slots represented graphically on the ship, especially target painter.

btw my thoughts on visible mid- or lowslots:
I don't think they should be visible... (unless there is a graphical hardpoint left)
It would be a huge task to create a visible recreation of every module and would probably screw up many aesthetics.

Things like ewar modules or remote hull repairer (why are they midslot anyway?) should be visible, i guess, but that is certainly far more in the future...

Agreed... plus neuts and nos should have distinct hard point animated turrets as well as an effects update.

I've imagined the warp disruption field of the Heavy Interdict or as a spherical array of hexagonal dishes when unscripted. When the focused disruption script is added, all the dishes align in a phased array.
