Friend gave me a character and I'm looking to use him as a manu/hauling alt.

Just completely lost on what I would go for with that.

Any suggested reading so I can learn would be welcome.

I saw this list, but it is a bit old. Would it still be accurate?

It is still a very good list.
The guy that made it, Tau, has first hand knowledge of almost everything he lists, and tries to be as accurate and informative as possible.

You will, no doubt, change directions or *personalize* your own plans along the way.
The more you train, the more you will understand it.

Thanks. I'll stick with that list then.

Do you know of any manufacturing guides? I'd google them, but if someone knows a good one I'd prefer knowing its good.

There are guides, but I don't have one handy. Tau may have one of those too.

What I can say is:
Manufacturing is kind of a deep and multi-faceted career. You have to find products that sell/sell for a profit. (some don't)
You have to find the right region/station to sell them at.
You have to find your own niche. You might be in ammo sales, or battle ship sales, noob systems, or null space hubs.
And when one line of sales slows down, you may evolve into another.
If you do it full on, your wallet will start blinking every 30 seconds :) Kinda cool.
At some point early on, you will want good trade skills too.

A particular blueprint will give you the skills needed and materials needed to make that product.
You will learn to *research* the print for better performance/better profits.
Manufacturing is a great way to do EVE solo, or chill out on occasion.
Though you will learn the term 'Market PVP'

Tau is still pretty active on the forums. He'll probably drop in here soon. :P

Yes, though I usually post this wrapper now:

Oh, and there was a skill renaming: Production Efficiency → Material Efficiency

Keep in mind it doesn't cover all the skills required for manufacturing:
* Tech 2
* Tech 3
* Fighters & Bombers
* Capitals
* Structures
* Drugs
* Storyline (COSMOS) modules and drones
However it does cover Tech 1, and is a very good base to "build" upon.

New to manufacturing

EDIT: Warning, I edit my posts way too much. It takes a good 10 minutes for them to settle.
