Scorpion Lvl 4

can you put enough DPS/TANK and ECM on a Scorpion to accomplish reasonable completion times in Lvl 4 and still have a high success rate at engaging or breaking locks on any would be gankers or maybe even fit some mining lasers, pretend to be AFK and procede to have a Jam party with any would be code enforcers.

I was wondering since it has no weapon bonus, if 3 drone damage amplifiers and a full flight of mediums might get the best DPS, with either unbonused guns or Rapid Heavy missile launchers in the highs.

So let me get this straight. You want to:

  • Complete L4's in a reasonable enough time to make good isk from it
  • AND be able to engage and consistently common ganker ships, with only 1-2 lows left for distortion amps
  • AND use medium drones and unbonused weapons with no damage mods as your primary weapon, giving you the dps of your average pvp cruiser

  • or

  • Fit mining lasers and wait on someone to try andsuicide gank a battleship in a mining belt, and try to ecm them? Am I getting that right?

  • The first scenario, you just aren't going to do it with one fit. The scorpion is very light on tank, and very light on dps, which makes it pretty terrible for both PVE and 1v1 PVP. You'd have to bias the fit pretty heavily toward ECM even hope to win fights (keep in mind you'll usually be outnumbered and probably already tanking mission rats), which would require you to severely compromise the rest of the ship.

The second scenario, I guess you could do that, but I don't imagine you'll get very many people trying to gank a battleship, especially if they see the glow from your hardeners. And it's not like they can't simply bump you around. This would get really boring, really quickly.

Quick question then how would you go about jamming gankers? what ship and modules would be used? ecm on a bantam?

    Will gank for food

For mining, your only option is to not AFK, watch local and d-scan, fit a proper tank (max yield gets you killed).

I suggest a tanky procurer as your best option.

For mission running, don't blingfit it, watch local and spam d-scan, move away from warpin point, always be aligned to a non obvious celestial (no stations, planets or sun) and fit a proper tank with high EHP (boosting will not save you vs alphas) just to name a few countermeasures.

EVE is what happens when the rule of law does not apply and Darwinism is allowed to run freely.

    short answer: no
    long answer: lol no

You're trying to do too many things at once, which just doesn't work. If you want to do missions focus on optimising your completion times (applied dps, speed) and if you don't fit silly faction fetish stuff no one will gank you unless they made it personal and in that case nothing will save you.

Don't use a Scorp for missions, don't bother using ECM for missions. Get a Raven or a CNR, fit for dps and you'll be fine. If you're worried about being ganked (again, unless you fit silly stuff it's not a realistic threat) use a navy scorp, it does the same dps as a normal raven but it's more tankier.

    This^

Just like RL if you make yourself an easy target you're more likely to become one. An Retriever AFK in a belt is pretty much holding a sign saying "Please gank me"

I have some mission ships semi bling fitted (Under 1 bil) but I don't take them to dangerous systems, I do all what Ayeshah said above and I've yet to be ganked.

I gank mining barges sometimes and the first thing I do when picking a target is look to see how difficult this will be. I'll fly to him and scan for a tank, look to see if he's AFK. If he moves around, pops drones out, and I see he's tanked I'm going somewhere else. I don't want to waste ISK on a fail gank.

You can jam gankers with a scorpion once they go flashy red but that means they've already fired their first volley. For anti freighter gank this might be helpful but on a mining barge it'll be too late.

If you're worried about your battleship being suicide ganked by keeping it T2 with maybe a cheap deadspace booster it won't become a target. Now if you're worried about war targets ganking you that's a different story. Best is not to mission during war but if this is not possible have scouts and intel in adjacent systems. Always stay aligned, have safe spots etc.

There's no reason to Dscan in high sec if you're running a normal non-lol fitted BS, at all, ever.

Guys, I don't think he's talking about actually mining...if I've got this right, he's trying to get killmails by sitting in a belt with mining lasers on a scorpion, waiting to be ganked.

I think you're giving him too much credit. He's "just" a newbie (nothing wrong with that btw) trying to create an all in one kitchen sink fit.
