Want to add a few names to your list of gankers ? May I suggest CODE . These are the people mentioned in their "minerbumping" link who took part in their recent "Battle of Isanamo" [.6 security] where they managed to surprise 1 Rhea [empty] , 2 Charons , 1 Fenrir , 2 Obelisks , 2 Raven Navy Issues plus 7 more ships all in a period of "just a few hours" . All this without loosing a single ship themselves [???] Where were the gate guns ? Where was CONCORD ? . These 2 safeguards are obviously ineffective . The blog said there were 8 spawns of them Shocked plus 10 vigilantes in the system . Hey , these guys must be REALLY GOOD or there's something going on that nobody can see . I wouldn't doubt that CODE is made up of the alts of some null-sec super-alliance and they know that high-sec space is the very nerve center of the game of EvE . It's where everybody has to come just to go to market . Without that market null/low & WH space's expensive , found nowhere else , products dry up .

Besides that how many people are going to want to play a game where you have to pay extortion fees just to go to market or just to mine . The people above weren't paying their 10 million isk to be in "their high security space" Straight When old timers leave they also bad mouth in this day and age of communication . Makes the new blood feel all warm and fuzzy . Maybe they should try a less punk infested MMORPG , right ?

People wonder why I keep trying to ruin a wonderful game like EvE by asking for high-sec nerfs . Well EvE wasn't always the way it is now . CODE , for instance , was a loosely knit gaggle of NCP players until very recently when they started to form corporations and now they're about 10 corps strong and getting bigger . This is the reason I suspect they are just the cat's paw of a larger organization .

BTW pro-gankers when you are made to pay somebody you don't even know 10 million isk and wear their approval in your bio , just to gank , will you join them out of fear ? Hope they don't find you ? Just go play a more enjoyable game where you're punked out less ? Look around....it's coming ! The extortion price might go up too . Blink

I think a more effective way to combat these guys would be to form up a few fleets to do high sec patrols in space oft visited by the New Order... and anything with Low Sec status dies.

That's the whole "emergent content" thing we talk about all the time. It's one of the stated goals of the New Order to engender armed resistance, because the entire point of it is to get people to actually play the game.

So yeah, get up a group and try it. Make your own corp for it, even.

Well if 'emergent' gameplay not extortion was the point I would expect instead of just bashing the miners and carebears ... New Order Could pull a RvB and form up a section dedicated to 'protecting' the poor innocents of high sec space and hunting down every last criminal heathen etc. ... These two sides of New Order could be in a perpetual state of war, allowing dwellers of High sec a never ending 'faction' war that would, because of their sub-cap nature actually be interesting to watch/partcipate in.

RvB did that already. Why copy someone else? If you want it done, go for it yourself.

And the "extortion" is just another form of emergent gameplay. Our aim is to deter AFK gameplay. The people we gank can either start fitting a tank or otherwise change their self victimization habits, pay us to go away, or keep on getting ganked. Besides that, the offer to pay us was mandated to us by a GM in the first place. We have to have that option.

If you'd cared to actually check you'd have found Concord were indeed involved, and that the pilots involved incurred the wrath of Concord for any crimes they committed.

Concord are there to provide punishment, not protection; their motto is not "to protect and serve"

The anti ganker brigade, are on the whole toothless. 99% of people won't do anything about criminals or suspects in highsec, despite it being open season as far as Concord and the Crimewatch system are concerned. Highsec is where all the commerce happens, as such the ganking of people engaged in commercial activities is economic warfare; it's also a target rich environment, a very rich one.

Eve is marketed as a harsh cold environment, one where the forces of law enforcement are dedicated to punishing certain crimes, not preventing them. High security does not mean total security, it merely means that Concord punish people who commit any of a very limited amount of offences.

By very recently you mean what? CODE. has been up and running since the end of 2012, that's over a year ago, hardly very recently.

As a mainly PvE player I fully support the idea of somebody being able to ruin my day, just as I am free to ruin someone elses if I so desire; as long as it's within the rules of the game I have no problem with it. Extortion is within the rules, you don't have to pay them, you can still do what you want without paying them, you just have to plan accordingly.

I was the FC in the recent battle of isanamo (full battle report below)

I would have to say pvping capitals that are autopiloting or afk is a lot of fun, why they chose to pvp while on autopilot beats me.

I welcome any white knights or group to actually challenge us when we are pvping freighters or orcas but as you can see we are unstoppable only due to our faith in the code which is unbeatable.

Your falcons can not stop us, your smart bombing ships can not stop us. I have yet to see any white knight stop a successful pvp fight we have had with bot-aspirants in James 315 territory (high sec)

Let the battle of isanamo be a lesson to all you non-compliants that the code. Is an unstoppable, immovable force in high sec and we can and will strike down our opponents whenever and wherever we see fit.

Thanks for the thought we are made up of alts from super alliances, however i think you are missing one major point.

We are the super alliance.

We are keeping highsec honest and taking back from the bot aspirants.

CODE. is breeding highsec champions, so there is no stopping it.

You say I don't check ? I read the minerbumping link over in it's entirety and they stated they had ZERO losses which only helps what i'm saying , that present safeguards are ineffective . Call me uninformed , call me inattentive but I don't think I've ever read a kill-mail about Concord squashing some criminal pushing the envelope , nor am i interested in them getting punished . Once the freighter is gone and it's contents looted , the damage has been done ! Who cares if some cheap destroyers pay the price .

They need a motto and 'to protect and serve'" encompasses everything I've been trying to say . To protect the nerve center of the game we all love some game mechanic needs to be put into place to deter the 2% who would destroy the game for the other 98% .
Many who argue for high sec ganking just want to protect their right to do so just in case the need ever arose .
Kind of like those who don't even own a gun often argue against gun control just because they might want to take up hunting someday . Government shoves one law through then uses it as a springboard to pass a less popular law . I understand the fear concept .
The need for a muzzle on organized high sec ganking is necessary, IMHO , for the overall good of the game . A freighter wouldn't even need to be changed if only one ship were allowed to be involved in a ganking [ this means no 2nd ship used to impair it's travel route either ] . Concord should show up in time to protect and not just punish . That's a given . This would not stop the single part-time ganker from taking a shot now and again if that's where their head is at . Do it fast though .

Somewhere in these forums I stated that I had been around since about 2005 . If you mean the end of 2012 is somewhere around 2013 then that is just around last year . Believe me when I tell you that their emergent game-play is nothing I would have signed up to spend a lot of real money on had I known EvE was going to take such an alarming turn . Ganking was always a gaming tactic but you didn't have people making fear-mongering , hi-sec businesses out of it back when I joined .

The most Ironic thing about these New Order fools, is they complain about AFK activity, when the primary way we measure our characters and what they can do in game IS a ******* AFK activity.... the real time skill point system of EVE is by its very nature AFK... so EVERYONE does a **** ton of AFK gameplay in EVE online.

When I set my skill que to train Drone interfacing V, and didn't log in for a month until it was completed.... I was still gaining ground in game by being "AFK"

Every time you set your skill que, and log out of the game while gaining skillpoints you are an "AFK bot-aspirant"

So will these ******* idiots please get off their soap box?

Except for the fact that I can sub2skill, log off, go watch TV WHILE NOT EVEN HAVING THE GAME OPEN ON MY SYSTEM .... and come back and depending on skills trained be 100% more combat effective.... so tell me again how EVE is a game where 'AFK' is not a PRIMARY TOOL to advancement!?!?!?!?!?!??
