I sometime wonders if it is a law of the universe to use Sail by Awolnation in a video that has been recorded with GoPro. But that guy has hit the perfect balance between being nuts and awesome.

Back to topic.

I'm starting to really go in details with this incident. Going to be exciting to know which theory is the correct one. If we ever get to know it.

Count the planes that did make it back and compare to how many didn't. Now count the cars...

Planes is the safest form of travel on Earth.

If your country suffered a major incident and the whole world new about it, would you accept public aid from the USSR secret service?

No, because you know it's less help and more "look how great the USSR is world!"

This has nothing to do with USSR (which does not exist) "secret service".

Also, a secret service is utterly different from a criminal investigation organization. Not even comparable.

Sigh.

"Tree" level speculation. Generates more questions than it answers.
Meanwhile, there's a couple of big white elephant in the room.

Put on an actor cap. Imagine you're some professional arch terrorist leader who's out to cause anarchy to the world, just for the exercise Smile

You hijack/take possession of an asset for certain reasons. A Boeing 777 - a huge flying target (radar wise), very public settings (lots of eyes) and its every move is constantly tracked (both satellite and when it's within cellphone coverage landmass). Though the world is big and there are blind spots, to know and map these require extensive intel resources that costs both time and money. Furthermore, after you've jolted the hornet's nest, you'll have to contend with anti-terrorist organizations and counter-intelligence coming down after you and breathing down your neck. Do you really want all these attention? Do you have a godfather or guardian angel who you can cry back to if things go bad? The rewards had better be worth the risks you're taking.

For a 2-bit terrorist organization (read cheap, poor and disorganized), I wouldn't even bother. There are other nefarious plans out there that are far cheaper, easier to implement and is similarly effective. On the well funded side of the coin, well, here's where it becomes interesting. Follow the money trail. Blackmail the pilots? Well, blackmail and hijack are two separate tasks that complicates the overall plan. The more complex you make the plan, the more it leaks and the more it has the chance to fail. Blackmailing may backfire if the pilot retains his integrity (despite the threats) and alerts the police/intel branch. It may also fail if the pilot does a 180 degree turn and changes his mind during the heist. This is too risky and unreliable.

At this point in time imo, whatever rumors that's circulating within the intelligence communities (i.e. real intelligence services) is probably closer to the truth than the media reports.
Unfortunately, the public isn't privy to classified information.

Are we talking about the US FBI? Cause it's starting to sound like you're referring to some other country's FBI.

FBI is run by bureaucrats with their heads up their àsses. It doesn't run exactly the way it's portrayed on the label.
