There's probably a thread about this somewhere, but I'm inherintly lazy to find it.

With the current CSM nearing the finish lines.
I'm just wondering if there's going to be a fix that disables access from outside passworded pos shield?
Or is this not a bug and rather a feature, could be I don't know.

Or is there something secret, bigger and better coming instead of the decade old pos mechanics, that someone from the csm can neither conform or deny.

Just wondering...

CCP needs to redo the entire roles system. That will by-in-large fix it.

Very true, but this would require a lot of work I reckon. (and is seriously overdue Blink)

The big issue I have with X-L SMA is, that okay they have 20x the space of a regular SMA but they also occpuy 100x the volume of a regular one. It's probably oversimplified to say shrink the model, adjust the properties but why not just do that?

If they've got the roles to board things from it, they don't have to be inside the forcefield to board things. I think you have to be right on the bubble, but it's doable, and a real PITA.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

Basicly it comes down to it's huge size, which is half the pos shield.
All you need to do on a passworded POS (where you don't have access to) is click approach on the X-L sma from outside the shield in a small ship like a shuttle. It might take a few minutes, but in the end you'll be within 3K of the sma and you can just board any ship from outside the shield.
Ofcourse this only works if you have the approriate roles, but since there's only 4 different ones you often will.

The only protection against this is having the X-L SMA on config starbase, but this severly limits it's use for most wormholers.

8 SMAs have the same volume content as one X-L SMA but you can only have one capital per sma where as you can have like 12 or so in an X-L SMA.

It was an issue that had been pointed out when they made the change to X-L SMA (no sov required) but haven't fixed since.

I have talked to CCP about the issue multiple times during the summit and on skype. CCP is absolutelly aware of it so it is in their court now to fix it.

Its been in their court for the past 9 months.

I'll clarify the issue. It was reported in 2013.

It is now 2014.

This does not take a year to fix.. this takes 3 hours (2 and 1/2 hours to talk about it, 15 minutes for coffee, 10 minutes to find the guy to do it, 5 minutes for the guy to reduce the sig bubble of it). It ain't you, but it seems (and has always seemed), that CCP is not fair or impartial to the whole of eve. I"m not sure if its because others have bigger mouths and yell louder, or if its that others have direct telephone lines into CCP HQ to discuss the things they seem as relevant, and to knock other items back because it does not involve them.

If the CSM ran Eve Online (lets assume), and they had their own idea's on new implementation, feedback and things that need to be addressed, it "seems" that 1/2 of that CSM board is being completely ignored. This is a bit of a rant, I do apologize for it, but people get frustrated when a simple issue, with a simple fix, goes completely ignored for months, upon months.. upon months, upon years... with no comment or note.

I get your frustration Chitsa. Some of the most basic stuff that has been asked for is still being ignored. It's quite silly.

(I get ignoring large changes or giant requests, this is a Bug Fix, and a simple bug fix at that.)

Yaay!!!!
