I'm not sure what happened, but the Navy Slicer really needs help nowadays.

It could be the proliferation of links that make it suck, but it simply isn't a good ship anymore, even for kiting (since it literally cannot brawl). Some evidence is it's 11m price tag in Jita.

So, what happened to make this ships so weak?

Moving the utility high to mid would be nice, but it doesn't need it.

Compared to the super versatile Comet it surro seems bad now.
1 trick pony and it will haven have trouble against a 150mm fit Comet.

It need the new Amarr heavy weight+more speed treatment so you can fit a plate on it.

The one trick pony thing is IMO what really makes the Slicer bad, you can bet 99% of slicers are paper-tank kite fit, and because it's a long-point ship you can usually always avoid fighting it unless you're caught in a really bad place (asteroid belt, far from a gate), therefore if you know you can't beat it, you simply don't fight it. Trying to fit a Slicer for brawl is just fail, most things will either be able to get under lasers bad tracking, out tank/gank you, or simply disengage if they're losing, you also put yourself close to neut range which will cripple the slicer badly.

I would never take on a slicer in an AB brawl frigate simply cause I know I can't win, but with an MWD scram frig with decent speed it's really easily to slingshot it into scram and kill it (unless it's HG Snakes and linked but even then), it doesn't have an insurance policy (TD, defensive web) to prevent/help it not get caught so I would say it's a subpar kiter even against the T1 'attack' frigs like the Condor.

The Slicer is one of the best ships in the game right now IMO as far as balance is considered. They could even nerf it by taking out a utility high and I wouldn't even be mad.

Even with two mids it works perfectly.
