Cyno jammers?

Granted, they don't work against BLOPS, but they at least rule out all conventional drops.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

I was rather ambivalent when it comes to the issue of AFK cloaking, until one day I jumped into a 1.0 system with an Arazu while having a security status below -2.0. I got the message "criminals are not welcome here", activated my warp drive and tried to cloak, but then received a message "your cloaking device is jammed by faction police". Now, since I had a pair of nanofibers I escaped without a problem, but I was still slightly annoyed by the fact that NPCs can prevent you from cloaking, while other players don't have that option. So why not allow people to install a sovereignty upgrade which would disable cloaking for anyone in the same system? Naturally, it wouldn't be the best solution, since there's still NPC null, lowsec and W-space, but if you want to spend money and starbase resources on such a module (which should still cost much less than a cyno jammer), then by all means go for it.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

How about a radical suggestion?

Stop worrying and get on with your day. If a single cloaky red in local is the most you have to worry about your time in EvE is pretty easy.

Why should cost such a module less than a cyno jammer? If it's a Sov Upgrade, it should boost the same cost as other Sov Upgrades; if it's a mere POS module, it should cost no less than other POS mods that feature system-wide effects.

(If it was a Sov Upgrade, levels should be equivalent to the radius of effect (ie. Level 1 == 10 AU ROE, Level 5 == 50 AU ROE))

The best solution is still to taunt them, have fun with them, drive them mad if they are active. make them regret their choice to camp you and destroy them in a cocky fashion. That's how you deal with cloaky campers and that's how you keep having fun for yourself. The only downside: you have to be actively watching your ratting/plexing and cannot employ bots or AFK Ishtars -- which should be doable, right? Roll

Lol dude ure funny. Taunt them, have fun with them. They are AFK or pretending to be, no sane player will answer to your mind games. U already have to watch when ure ratting. Those inty changes did not arrive at your corner of new Eden? I wonder how are u gonna watch a cloaky bomber that targets u, scrams u and drops a cyno.

If u are capable of somehow knowing that they are aproaching u while cloaked, then I applaud to u good sir. Would u mind sharing your know-how with us? And be more specific next time.

I don't reveal my secrets to any wannabe wiseguy. Go figure it out yourself. Roll

By taunting, have fun with them, I certainly don't mean idle chatter in local, that's pointless anyways; I rather refer to things that I repeatedly listed as countermeasures for systems with (AFK cloakers), even in a post where you also posted in. There is more than one way to drive Not-so-AFK AFK cloakers in your system mad. Blink Whether they are really afk or not doesn't matter to you, if you do this because you are very hard to catch in any case.

Stop being bad and fight for your sov space. If you can't handle one afk cloakie you don't deserve that space.

The main problem with OP's proposal is that he assumes AFK cloaking needs a solution.

You are among the few ignorant players unaware of the most troubling issue in EVE. Currently there are thousands of at the keyboard(here after abbreviated ATK) uncloaked players marauding all over New Eden with devastating consequences to all and the economy. Something MUST be done to rectify the situation before it's too late.

If you really care about New Eden you will read further here.

no - the solution is to remove local, or delay it.......

Edit: I agree, outright removing local is the only way, and already has data to back it up in wormholes.

U camt compare wormholes with 0.0 space... If u remove local u have to change how cyno mechanics work.

Um, why? Lighting a cyno has nothing to do with local. Whether you're warping to it, detecting, or jumping to. Your poorly worded/typed post makes little sense.

RIght, because your post where u compare wh with 0.0. makes sense. U supported removing or delaying local as solution to AFK cloaking. What makes AFK cloaking dangerous is the cyno threat, not the one ship cloaked in system. Data from WHs and experiences with local there are irrelevant.. Acces to WHs is partially restricted and not all ships can be fielded there. On the other side in 0.0 space u dont have any restrictions to ships and mechanisms used. That is why I stated " If u remove local u have to change how cyno mechanics work."

I fail to see how local is connected to this, other than being a artificial means of gathering intel. Cynos are visible in the overview at all times. (And I'm pretty sure you can't see them in local chatBlink)
Also, people hot drop caps all the time in wormholes, it's totally relevant. Lol

Make that complaints about AFK cloaking threads and I would have to agree.
