Does anyone really use the "other" ships?

Does anyone here have a ship that isn't from one of the four races or ORE that they use primarily? Also, why are the others so unpopular?

Update: Never mind, I realized the reason I wasn't seeing any pirate ships was because I don't browse ISIS enough and mistook a lot of ships for the wrong faction. Lol Mods, feel free to kill this thread.

Wish to troll aside:

The pirate ships are vastly superior to the empire ships of the same category.
They are just factor 5-10 more expensive so you rarely encounter them (in systems other where the link alts are).

Erm... had a wardec recently, so I hopped into my sacrificial Drake.

A fleet of 6 enters the system: 2x Dramiel, 2x Daredevil, Cynabl, Scimitar.

Get on in my alt and roam around in a rookie ship. I come across another fleet of 6, and a few fleets of 2 within dogpile range.

*sigh* I decide to just dock vs. those odds.

I fly only Faction ships. I've got all of them, up to battleship - still skilling for these. Right now I'm using the Stratios exclusively, but I like to fly them all, depending on my mood.

Here's my take on the ships in question, others might disagree but nevertheless,

  • Pirate frigs
Worm - rare, but used. kindof a glorified Tristan at 50 times the price tag.
Succubus - Needs to be somewhat shiny fit to be effective, and preferably with skirmish links.
Cruor - a regular frig with double web, full rack of neuts does the job just as well. If solo you need to give it some bling to work.
Daredevil - Used all the time in FW
Dramiel - Used all the time in FW as well, and in null.

  • Pirate Cruisers
Gila - Basically a pirate version of the Isktar, used quite a lot actually, especially in low sec and by nullbears.
Phantasm - An excellent ship, DOESN'T suck as much as people say, you just need to know how to fly it properly.
Ashimmu - Used in small gang fleets all over lowsec and nullsec.
Vigilant - For those that can't use the Deimos yet. Used quite a lot by low sec pirates.
Cynabal - one of the fastest cruisers, amazing "falloff kiter" with 425mm AC's. Used all over eve mainly in solo pvp.

  • Pirate Battleships
Rattlesnake - Never not ride the snake! used by bears in high and null sec to optimize their afk ratting.
Nightmare - I would say 80% of it's use is in Incursions, rarely in pvp, since there's better lazor boats for that.
Bhaalgorn - Weapon of choice when killing bears in high sec, and excellent for neuting capital ships all over EVE.
Vindicator - Do I even need to mention this one? for those with ISK it's the battleship of choice in PVP.
Machariel - Used all over EVE in PVP, more common than you think to see Machariel fleets.

So TL;DR
They are used quite often, though due to their price tag people will rarely fly the cruiser and battleship sized hulls solo. But in fleets you will see them all the time.
