Any font is better than the old font. Comic Sans MS would also have done the job.

I'll agree that CCP [maybe] should be looking into offering more selections for their changes to the UI and such. This font thing seems like a great place to start offering selections anyways. But I don't know how EVE is coded, so for all I know, changing the font across all of EVE could be a crap-ton more complicated than we players assume.

Technically, that is exactly what makes a font better. Readability is key with any font, and a font that fails to deliver that is not a good font. The old EVE font was much much worse.

This font might look out of place, and it might look like comic sans, or something a girl writes her blog with... but it is better.

As a partially sighted player I would like to thank CCP for the new font - it's improved the game a lot for me. Might not be the prettiest but it is doing a great job.

Honestly, it's insulting to ask a paying customer to do a QA tester's job and go on the test server.

When you're a customer paying for a premium service like EVE, you should expect it to be done right the first time it's presented to you. How we got to the point where we're expected to do something that most developers pay people to do just to get the service we paid for is beyond me.


This is a very very stupid comment.

1. Nobody is forcing you to do anything.
2. It's a test server for the benefit of the players. You don't participate? You lose out.
3. Don't like it? Don't use it.

CCP doesn't need to have Singularity running...they already have their own internal test server they can use. The test server is there so players can go in and see what is up and coming and provide feedback to CCP to make changes and fix bugs before the code goes live on Tranquility.

Your entire statement is pure idiocy.

I went to test, I commented, I got the font I wanted!

This new font is horrible.

Eve used to look crisp and sexy.
Now it looks like a second grade typing class.

The worst part is that now items on your overview are bigger, leaving less room for number of items to display. This is simply an unacceptable disadvantage in pvp situations, especially in large gangs.

Please give us the option to return to the old font. This has almost completely destroyed my enthusiasm for what should have been a great expansion.

Personally I prefer a font that can actually be read rather than... whatever the old font was. I think it's great and are people seriously complaining about the FONT in a GAME about INTERNET SPACESHIPS? Really?

I saw the font… what? Four, five weeks ago? I've also already logged in and seen it. It's still the same: a vast improvement over the horrid mess of the old font design.

They fixed pretty much all the errors of the old font, especially when it comes to being able to quickly distinguish similarly-shaped glyphs, so if that's what he's referring to, then they have done the exact opposite: they've removed a very old and very nasty error, not made one.

Since the new font is scaleable and allows further improvements on the UI, there is really no point in keeping the old font and maintaining the legacy font in future UI updates would be a programmers nightmare.

anyway, as they said in one of the another 183247125 thread about the font, it would be too much work to make the font selectable.

option #1: scale your UI down to 90% and reduce font size further if you need to.

option #2: get a real computer capable of handling the eve font

option #3: leave eve, quit complaining and let the nuts drop.

The new font is awesome, I do believe people may be loading EVE and leaving it as it is and complaining.

Play around with the settings, it is pretty awesome, really awesome, more awesome than cheese on toast... woah hold that thought, nothing is that awesome... maybe!

Basically I now have the choice between windows that take up way too much space (wallet, scanner, overview, fleet window, etc, if I want to actually be able to see any significant amount of the information there) or I can scale it down to 90% at which point it becomes largely unreadable. Maybe on a larger screen it would work, but on my 1600 x 900 screens 90% simply isn't an option.

This is a significant decrease in usability.
