Hi,

can you implement a chat beep function - like in IRC? - So when a new message in a important chat window is written some click or beep sound is played.

These must be manually switchable (on/off)
Furthermore a set of beeps or the use of own sound files would be nice.

I always miss some of the blinking bars - hope iam not the only one who answers all 10 to 15 mins ;D

Need to be able to turn it on and off on a per channel basis.

Also, I would kill for a text alert, so that I get beeps when someone says my name, or the obvious variations of it.

I support this idea also. I was just about to post a request for this.

Beep in chat when my name is linked so I can follow threads I'm a part of. Blinking text is fine, but an audible tone so I don't miss conversations when I'm focused on a task outside of chat windows.

As stated being able to turn on/off and per chat tab would be key to sucess of the idea.

Only if it's really annoying, like maybe have Aura saying "Message received" every time someone writes a message in the chat channel. This would keep it balanced imo.

To keep it even more balanced, make it so you can only switch notifications on for all channels at once.

Hmm, no, most of the time you want to follow only a couple of channels and you don't care about the rest (like, Jita local).I think it should simply be accessible as a toggle sound notifications option for each channel, very much like the blink on / off option, and it should be disabled by default.

Well I must have missed your point then. If you care only about a couple of channels, why would you want notifications for all channels or none ?
