Finally, there is a comics book published about our EVE, however it is really disappointed.

Somehow can not down load Chapter 1 yet, but the Chapter 2 is just a totally disaster.

The work looks from some student just graduated and surprised got a big Gig, the entire book except the first Cover page, the images just miss the point. The guy who did the work have no idea how EVE's graphic quality is, EVE is art man, give some respect please!!! EVE is not some hand draw from the toilet ! The story just like some stupid violence fights... Seriously, where are those characters images come from, shouldn't come from EVE online? Its just a joke for every EVE players, come on...

How could CCP let this toilet draws insults EVE online's fame.
How could CCP artists stand with this piece of incomplete "draft" quality?
How could CCP let this low level work miss leading those potential EVE players?

If you don't like the comic then don't buy it.

I actually liked it. I'd rather read about real people in a different spin of actual events, than read about made up characters taking the spotlight from the real heroes of New Eden. Or maybe, the real villains? It is kind of ambiguous.

It would be a greater insult if the comic acted like we didn't exist.

Issue #1's artist was Tomm Coker whose portfolio includes work for Marvel, Vertigo and illustrations for the Eberron campaign setting books for DnD 3.5

Issue #2 was illustrated by Alejandro Aragón whose other works include the 28 Days Later comic series.

These aren't students, they're experienced comic book artists. If you dislike their art style, then that's your problem not theirs.

I thought they were very consistent with subtle details we're seeing a lot with EVE lately.

For example: capsuleer representation in flight. In trailers we've seen capsuleer characters speaking to one another and flying in that "psuedo in pod" visual where we see their face surrounded by HUDs and we also witness their emotions. That same direction was continued when we saw the capsuleers flying in the comic.

The writing itself was very clever in portraying metagame aspects of EVE within the context of the world itself. Very clever. :)

I thought it was very well done.

I enjoyed the comics. So much so, that when money is demanded, I will pay it to continue reading. =)

I haven't read through most of the site, was there a link for the comic?

Your usual taste of japanese hentai might be of higher drawing quality and printed on high quality fluid repellent paper, but they might also cost significantly more than the eve comics....

Many of the best comics I own and read have what may be regarded by many as 'sub-standard' artwork. Of course, it isn't, but to the uninitiated often the cover does not reflect the 'quality' of the content - much like a cut-scene trailer for a game doesn't reflect game-play. This of course takes nothing away from the story, and beautifully drawn interior artwork that's well coloured certainly helps.

I've yet to even look at the EVE offerings, but I highly doubt they are as poor as you make them out to be.

The comic book is disappointed? Yeah, I'm sure it is. Learn to write, please.

The comics were actually surprisingly good. You may not know this, but art comes in different kinds and not everything looks like a picture of a vase, so to speak.

First i would like to say it was a cool idea but i also felt a bit dissapointed.

What i found the most dissopointing was imho it didnt feel like Eve. The whole thing about the main hero going alone in battleship to be bad ass is just pretty silly, cause its the single best way to be killed, going alone in a slow big ship.Only a very unexperienced pvper woul do it ,and would pay fast for his foolishness. It could ahve shown some smart ship setups /strategies that poeple used to employ to win , that really were used and were smart and redquired skill , but instead we got a guy firing at everything and killing because he is a bad ass:(. Even a solo nano vagabond could be realistic and interesting to show how it really works....

It just felt so tottaly disconnected from the game, never mind the art.

Just read the second episode.

Art wise i actually rather like the comic. But again for me its not Eve.

Eve for me is about fleet combat, commanding, battles, tactiics, this is some political/organizationall stuff.
Maybe its good for people that are deep into that stuff but for me Eve is foremost a ship combat game.

Am not sure that is true for everyone. Besides a lot of technical PvP fc junk wouls be lost on people who dont play eve yet. And on that note I thought the art was fine. However providing more backstory on who is Bob and goons etc might help the plot some. I kinda had to read through some things twice to follow.

Gee the mittani sure is portrayed as together lol. One wonders if he has actual challenges like most human leaders.

Fair point that finer points of pvp could be to hard to explain, but i am tyinking that one could it well.Iactially think the comic is the perfect medium as its got both picture and text, contrary to when you try to describei it only or only show on pvp videos.

What im saying is how hard woudl it be to show and explaina as for example toughts of the main guy that he is flying a nano vaganbond , and that ships liek batttleships cant really track it and despite superior tank and firepower are easy prey? That it alllows to disengage if more enemies arrive?

Or show some scouting cooperation or some covert recons catches.

The thing about this comic is you got to decide who is it adressed to :

1 - if Eve players , they shoudl have easy time to understand , even if they dont pvp , cause they know the baiscs.

2-If poeple that dont play Eve imho it shoudl still be understandable and would maybe give them a distant feel why Eve is different and interesting. After reading the current comics i guess they will thing Eve is about sitting in bars and chatting/drinking + plotting. And while i think there is a number of poepel that play that why, its a rather minor minority.

Ofc as a pvp pilot, my view might be blased:)

It also possible that he did not fly in with a battleship in quite that manner lol.

Its also interesting that the mercs were using a fleet of arazu or lachesis when they suprise attacked goons - interesting choice for a fleet no?
So yeah - they might need a technical PvP consultant before doing the art...
