Do capsuleers marry?

I was playing Rift when they allowed marriages. First time I have ever encountered something like that in a game. There was no game winning benefit to it, just fluff.

But I did notice that it was something RL couples who played the game enjoyed. There was even a wedding ceremony instance you could go to with all your friends present. And rings as part of your wardrobe.

Assuming RL couples play EVE, would it benefit EVE socially for marriage to exist in New Eden? Or is EVE too "hardcore" for such nonsense?Pirate

[The marriage ship could have a "Just Married" sign on it with a trail of tied up tin cans following afterwards.]

Unless WIS ever gets off the ground, the social aspects on EVE will be limited IMO.Ugh
it's hard to feel virtually "connected" to other people when all you can see are ships and chat.

I can see it know.

"Marriage notice posted for all our friends my dear?"Bear

"Yes my love."Oops

After the ceremony the blushing couple leave the church, "instance" and are instaganked by the combined firepower of enough hardened pirates and lowsec naughty boys to kill a titan.

Hangs teeth - for that photo opportunity id be pulling the trigger with the worst of them.

Lol

I hope so...my boyfriend and I randomly discovered we were both eve fanatics when we started going out 3 years, ago.

Getting married IRL is kinda what I'm going for here. Unless there's a tax break going in EVE? LOL.Big smile

"Til death do us part" will have an entirely different meaning.

Man: Ahhhh... I'm home! You'll never believe what happened today! I was ganked and podded! *goes in for kiss*
Woman: *puts hand on guys face to stop him* Excuse me... but... you're NOT my husband!
Man: What?
Woman: I was married to the last clone! Not you! If you want a kiss you are going to have to start ALL over again!
Man: .............. wat... ?
Woman: And I expect better performance than your predecessor! He was lousy in bed. And a miner.
Man: Uh huh. I'm gonna go to the bar.
Woman: With what money? Since you 'died' it's all in my name!
Man: ......... ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...

Marriage?? In Eve??? Oh well...one could say what's 1 more scam in Eve Big smile

But ...who says marriage, says divorce.
And do you really want that in world where people are immortal and have a limitless supply of weapons?
You could get in the middle of a fight everywhere !
oh wait.... Smile

It would be an interesting way of settling marital disputes. Twisted

Marriage in EVE is generally considered too complicated to be worth the effort:

The "death 'til you part" part of the vows makes most marriages very short. On the plus side, the divorce rate of capsuleers is pretty small (because death is more convenient than divorce.)

Ratting is a way you normally reduce your security status in regards to your spouse.

Marrying your clone raises all sorts of legal questions.

Procreation is a common goal of marriage, but there are no children in EVE. Go on, try to create a child in EVE. It just can't be done.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Divorced Mother: Little Johnny is mine!
Divorced Father: No! Little Johnny is coming with me!
Divorced Mother: I'll suicide gank you!
Divorced Father: I'll war dec you!
Divorced Mother: I'll knock over your corp's POS!
Divorced Father: I'll bring in my corpmates and blob you!
Divorced Mother: Oh yeah?! I'll bring in my alliancemates and hotdrop you!

Meanwhile, little Johnny sits on a hill in the distance... selling weapons and ammo to everyone. And little Johnny lived happily (and richly) ever after.

The real issue is just involving Mother-in-Laws full stop.

That's wrong for 2 reasons :

* Property and politics are the main reasons for the invention of marriage. The procreaction is just a side effect.

* Eve is full of children...just read the forums Blink

"Hurricane, do you take Prophecy to be your wedded wife, to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, and forsaking all others, be faithful only to her, for as long as you both shall live? "

Hell to the nay.

You'd think drilling rocks all day would teach them a thing or two about a thing or two.
