The only fitting I'd recommend for that character would be starting from scratch with a T1 frigate. The large gun skill is nice to have for later on though.

Looks like a decent start towards the gallente turret battleships. With expert knowledge you could aim towards a sniping MJD megathron / hyperion and later on to a Kronos.

Without expert knowledge I'd just start small and focus in the gallente/turret stuff, experiment and feel out what you like.

I'm with Riot Girl, you're missing a whole load of core and support skills. You can fly what you want of course, but the damage and effectiveness of a ship are directly linked to your support skills, aka nonexistent.

Sure hope you didn't pay to much for that because from where I am standing I doubt it's worth the 2 plex transfer charger ... Then again iirc thats on the sellers end of the deal.

Wow whoever remapped Perception/ Willpower should be smacked. If it's you I apologize but that was a waste. It's great you have some spaceship command and gunnery but you don't have ANY core skills. Most of those require Intelligence/ Memory. Without any core skills you're going to be hurting really bad.

I'm sure you don't want to keep going down the Per/WP path too long and not have a usable pilot. Unless it's just an alt and you don't care.

What I would do is train the gunnery support skills, weapon upgrades, and whatever T1 ship skills for the one race you want to fly to 4 then remap Intel/ Mem to train core skills.

Good luck and fly safe!

That character is just about 1 month old.
The *silver lining* is that he doesn't have any wasted skills. And any direction you take him is going to be ok.

You can train some of his core skills to III and IV and still use his current attributes to do some gunnery supports at a good rate.
He is currently, mainly, a gun ship pilot.

Since that toon got that sweet large projectiles V, using that particular trait for some missioning might be a good idea. Meanwhile you grind up your standings with a sleek Thrasher/Navy Comet/Rupture or similiar, can invest the time along the road to get your coreskills up (If unsure how to get coreskills up, can use https://gate.eveonline.com//Profile/Tippia?_ga=1.158085490.913709493.1391269854 the link in that user's signature)

Looks like that character was made to sit in a gank fit tornado.

Problem is, you need a bunch of other characters with the same skills/ship plus a freighter pilot plus either intelligence or a scanner and a lot of patience to find the right target to kill to make use of him.

If you wanna train up some shield or armor skills it'd be a fast track to a nice incursion machariel
The total lack of core skills would be an issue though

Also, as a newbie, can anybody tell me exactly what core skills to train and to what level?

Slowly work them all to 4 with the exception of CPU and Power grid management. Get those to 5 quickly. After that get the rest to 5

Edit: The first 5 categories is what most refer to "core skills". This is up to and including the "Cap/CPU Resource..." category.

As people said, get some solid core skills ASAP (mostly lvl4 should be enough for a while).

Considering your current SP, you should aim for Minmatar turret ships, with mid term goal being a Maelstorm.
Focus on Shield tank and aim for Tech 2 shield booster and hardener.
Some basic missile wouldn't hurt considering the minmatar have spare slot for launcher but this is less a priority.
Get T2 scout drones once you get to the Hurricane and above.
