No TL;DR

Call went out for 5v5 T1 cruisers or smaller in adjoining WH no podding.

We shipped up they shipped up and we had a blast! I was sceptical going in but we had our fun and lost (mainly because of fail FC > Yours truly)
Point is we had fun and we met some new guys and nobody bent the rules or got podded.

Content was created, conflict was driven and GF's were had. It is in essence the purest cure to what everyone has been whining we have less of.

I highly recommend people do more of this and when it happens don't bend the rules or blob just stick to what you have and accept winning or losing with grace and GF's.

Thanks Ocularis and see you in another pipe on another day.

I would like to add that the Wormbro's could have shut their hole at any time and gone on to do their own thing, but they offered to fight, and they waited patiently while I scrounged up our fleet. It took me far too long. >.> It was fun and I would take their word in the future. :)

I'm glad you had fun but...

I'm with Winthorp - it's great you guys had fun and congrats on clearly communicating well with each other to get it organised, but personally arranged fights are very boring.

I think to call it a "cure" to what people have been whining about is very short-sighted as well. If the cure to less fights in w-space (which I'm not even convinced is the case) was simply to arrange more fights, we may as well just all go and join RvB.

Arranged fights are an alternative to no fights at all, not to "good fights". Noone offers 5v5 when wither side feels theres a reasonable chance of getting an engagement in other way. And imho arranged fights are better than POS spinning.

Agree with Winthorp and Brax (and I'm certainly no bittervet, not even a vet!).

The fun had and honor displayed is a credit to both corps (and giving a shout-out is commendable) so I'm not wishing to **** up your thread, however there is nothing uniquely 'wormhole' about what happened. You can arrange a fight anywhere, even highsec. Imo wormholes are all about cloak & dagger, fights of opportunity, ganks and yes - blobs.

If arranged fights are the cure we need then I'd rather be dead lol

^ This :) The random, unexpected, unplanned fights in WHs are great. They keep you alert, interested, and weed out those who lack the constitution to live in WHs. Unfortunately these kinds of fights aren't always available so why not take a friendly little brawl when you can to kill some time and keep interested without having to dip out to k-space to find something to shoot. After a few days of hunting a WH chain without a decent fight you take what you can get and be thankful ;)

It was a good bit of fun, generated some nice chatter afterwords between the corps and, I think, built a bit of mutual respect for the next opportunity :)

Yeah I looked at the arguments against and edited the title of the OP out of respect.

I'm going to stand against this not being a content driver though. Whilst new corps and alliances are forming and finding their feet I believe this is A way (not necessarily THE way) to opt for.

Whilst people complain that others (bears) POS up at the first sign of danger or because Sky, RCC, BU, KICK or others rolled in and expected a fight they didn't get.

We are in a fairly unique situation of having relatively new pilots who need to learn the rush of winning a few kills whilst losing a fight is a cool thing and the blobs the naysayers generally tend to field are simply unmanageable during the trial times of getting established. The energy they have is because they are new and because they are hooked and couldn't give two ******* about losing ships but they will if it just becomes one blob loss after another.

I don't see anything wrong with it and I don't even see it as a last resort. I just think the established large entities need to decide once and for all what they want. If you just want to fight each other that's cool just don't complain you don't get fights from others.

If you do want new content and new corps in higher end WH's who will eventually ship up when they have a foothold then things like this are what we need to get guys a little more experienced whilst they train for the comps that are going to bring the GF's on a larger scale.

It's an opinion not a claim of being right.

BTW fix poses and get rid of new sigs appearing asap.

There's nothing inherently wrong with arranged fights. Sure, it's better than no fight at all. I only object to it being looked at as a 'cure' for a lack of encounters.

I feel the real problem is simply numbers. You can scout a chain for hours and sometimes encounter a single prober, or maybe some drake running sites. Roll your hole ten times to find nobody around in each system you roll into.

Need moar people in wormhole space and there'd be little need, or even time, to arrange fights.

You can say what you want about arranged fights not being a worm hole thing, but in the 7+ years I've played this horrible game w-space is the only place I ever see them honored. It seems like only groups that consistently have large numbers online have a problem with arranged fights.

While I am not a fan of the arranged fights, it's still good you guys had fun. You also got to find out who honors their word, which is pretty important in wh space.

No trolling please

This would have been much more fun, time-consuming, and content-creating than having a 5 minute lol gf fight.

Arranged fights are not preferred by any means, however getting new guys out and fighting is something that your group should be commended on. Wormhole space needs more new blood willing to put their ships on the line and the experience gained by your pilots will be invaluable down the line.
