Just wondering when the users who paid for EVE through Steam will get to play Crucible. After searching, I've concluded I'm the only EVE player that plays through Steam.

I play through Steam, what the hell is the issue? CCP generally gets the new version on the Steam at a much later date, but that will not stop you from launching the game and doing a manual update like every other player.

EVE does not use any of the Steam DRM. You can actually launch EVE installed through Steam without it opening Steam. So yea, what the hell is the issue?

Yeah just don't use steam to launch, make a shortcut to eve.exe and you're golden. Launching EVE from Steam = pointless.

Actually purchasing EVE through Steam = pointless. At least they got a huge chunk of advertising out of putting it up on Steam.

Well, since I purchase and play a lot of games on Steam and use its limited "community" features it was not necessarily pointless to me. I'm just curious when the Steam version of the game normally gets updated.

Most of my games come through steam, but in this case it's pointless.

If you launch it directly, then you'll have the update no problems, once it's patched you can return to launching with steam if you like.

Patch should have already been pushed to steam, it's a toss up when they'll get around to getting it implemented over there tho.

Possibly. Er, can't you just download the client from EVE?

Edit: PS, Steam is notorious for always being the last ones to patch/update a program. You should get crucible right before the summer expansion.

That's nice and all. I just find it a little too horse and waggon to be downloading and installing two 6GB installations of the same game.

I don't understand this. I started eve through Steam and updated in-game. Isn't that the normal procedure?

It just tells me incompatible version. Did you purchase EVE through Steam, or just run the game through its overlay?

I bought a copy of the game through Steam because I wanted another account and figured what the hell may as well get it on Steam. I am not at home right now but in the past it has always acted the same as non-Steam users. When you launch the game it should take you to the login screen, it will say incompatible version by the password field, and then should prompt you to download the update.

Worst case scenario download the patch directly: http://content.eveonline.com/321452/evepremiumpatch306979-321452_m.exe

I've tried all day but I received the same message. However, a few minutes ago it prompted me for the update. But then I lost connection. Lol

should still use the same launcher right? thus give you the update when everyone else gets it... also i think you are indeed the only person i know in the entirety of EVE that has purchased through steam lol.
