Invention - high failure rates right after patch

This is a sticky topic over the years, based on anecdoctes that refuse to die.
The main issue is getting the data over lets say a 24-48 hr period after a major patch, and comparing that with just before the patch.
Since only CCP holds this data, it's an almost impossible task.

Why am I posting this?
Because I'm miffed of 20 straight failures, from 2 different batches.
First batch before the emergency reboot. Second batch after the reboot. On the same character.
What are the chances with a true random generator?
The funny thing, that character has been running inventions the full 2-3 days prior with 30-40% succces on avg.

This almost shows that there's some sort of algotrithm (similar to the insurance scheme) behind inventions that's not documented.

A question for those keeping long and tight records on invention fail/success :
Have you noticed any blips/irregularities in for the first 24-72 hrs right after a patch?

/me makes a mental note to never do invention during the 1st week of patch.

Ok disregard the above post.
I'm not miffed anymore. P

CCP broke the success/fail notification, which I'd been relying solely on.
Re-checking the delivery logs, those invention that were succesful were wrongly reported as unsuccessful by the GUI window (that you always clicked OK/pressed Enter).
Funnily enough, the GUI logs showed several successes. Something wonky is going on.
The BPCs tallied as it should.

Fyi, to those folks running invention.
Double check your BPCs.

The messages work fine, it's just the mew font doing stupid things.

The thing is, the way you look at the messages is this:

- something orange = success
- nothing orange = fail

The new font made it so that if you have a success, the orange text doesn't fit in the dialogue box without scrolling.

Yeah, I was wondering what could be the reasons - since it's normally an Enter key fest when delivering.
When nothing is flashing orange, you tend to equate that with failures.
Almost no one reads the text after the first few hundred batches.

Will check with my 3rd batch.

Message box is too small to hold "success" text.

I went 5 for 10 on my last invention batch (48% chance).

I think its a bug on the message.

Remotely delievered 15 jobs which failed. I then went to the pos for something else. To my surprise i had 12 bpc waiting for me Big smile
