Carebear is anybody who does not pvp the way you want them to; this includes but is not limited to: people who do not pvp at all; people who stay in highsec; people who blob; people who use ecm; people who use logistics; people who use links; people who hide in null to avoid pvp; people who blops or otherwise use a cyno; people who run from fights where they are out numbered; people who use ship types that you dont like; etc. . .

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

Nahhh.... Carebear is a choice, Noob is what you are when you start. You cannot not be a noob. At least not for a certain peroid of time.

A carebear is a PvP player who has not been ganked yet! Lol

Wrong.

You have a chose being a noob.

When you start you are a newb.

Those are 2 totally different things.

So you can be an industrialist or miner or missiong runner... but not be a "carebear."

I'd go with this one personally. The main thing is the drive to avoid PVP at all costs.

You've ever seen the kind of player in your corporation that will do a lot of stuff for the corporation, but the moment they smell any form of PVP they run like hell, dock up and in case it's a wardec, they do not even log in onto the game?

That's a carebear.

If I'm exploring in my Imicus of course I avoid pvp. That thing is just cannon fodder.
But every time I undock I expect trouble and am prepared for it (spend most of my time in lowsec btw) and when I do lose the odd ship it's a learning experience for me...what did I do wrong...how can I avoid that next time.
I do everything I can to lower the risk of whatever I'm doing, that's not being carebear, it's just common sense to me.

Pirates, gankers etc want to pod me and steal my stuff, I want to prevent them doing that...that's just all part of the game to me.
Do I laugh when I leave the gate gang behind me because I fitted a cloak, mwd and warp stabs? Of course I do :) Would I expect them to laugh if they got past my defences and blew my *** up? Of course I would :)

I think the question of carebears was answered best in another post I read..it comes down to attitude, not how you choose to play.
Am I a carebear? Who the hell cares?

If you read Minerbumping.com, you'll quickly understand what a carebear is.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

This is the only part I disagree with. Seems to me that if you can utterly smash your opponent with overwhelming force, that it's good tactics. Minimize your risk, while making your enemies pay as much as possible.

The only problem is that if you're tricked into thinking you have overwhelming force, when really you don't. I.E.: Baited, then ambushed by a counterattack.

But on topic, it seems to me that carebear is a derogatory term most often used to describe someone who doesn't play in an aggressive way similar to your own. Usually in regards to people who aren't interested in direct PvP.

So what if a person hides in a station during a wardec? Maybe they don't have combat skills trained. As long as they're bringing resources into your corp, are they required to fight? Maybe you should have explained and agreed on that when you hired them?

I think it's wrong to try and lump everyone who tries to avoid risk into a single group. There are many reasons to want to avoid combat, and not all of them have anything to do with cowardice, weakness, or selfishness that's commonly associated with the term 'carebear'.

Generally, people who shoot at other people who dont shoot back, will call the people who dont shoot back carebears.
Or someone who DOES shoot but has no idea how the pvp mechanics work, at all, and so dies horribly and sometimes embarrasingly.

Carebears are the people that want Eve to be a single player game, especially with regards to highsec and non consensual PvP. They want CCP to adapt the game to suit them, not adapt themselves to the game.

It's possible to be a PvE player without being a carebear.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
