Oh, wait, I get it now. You're asking for the removal of CONCORD, gotcha.

If I could hunt characters with a reputation as Gankers down freely in highsec I would be willing to give up a lot of the effectiveness of concord... because really, the gankers just game that system anyway.

You already can do that. You can fire on low sec status characters freely.

Tank your barge or Indy. 90% of people don't bother to.

Put an alt (or friend) in an actual combat ship, close by and ready to either rep or pew the gankers when they go suspect.

It's really not that hard and the mechanics are quite straight forward. It just takes a little effort, planning and friends (or alts). You know, the same three things gankers often employ.

These threads are becoming kinda sad and hard to watch lol Seems a lot of people are just too useless/lazy to go to any effort at all to defend themselves and instead want mechanics changed so they don't need to.

Give the Freighters, and industrials a means to shoot back...

Your telling me that in a future where we can go damn near anywhere in the universe the merchant ships wouldn't have more guns than the Spanish Gold fleets?

..... So yeah, if the gankers are all about 'emergent' gameplay .... they should be campaigning to put a full rack of 8 turrets/missiles on every mining barge and freighter, up the mid slots to allow for EWAR... and deployable point defense systems in the belts.... after all, if we can have a mobile depot... why the hell wouldn't we deploy big ass sentry stations?

..... Oh wait, they only want to shoot targets, not hunt prey capable of being predators.

new gameplay, gankers will now use the "buffed" Freighters and Industrials to gank you.

Best advice ever, especially the part I emphasized. You're not going to stop a gank by shooting. You're going to stop it by making them gank someone else.

Even a logi frigate appearing to be repping you will probably make them choose someone else.

I just want to highlight this little bit of butt hurt.

You can tell 2 things from looking into the history of my 'pvp main'. One is I pretty much suck at PVP and two is that I don't pvp much now adays (though roaming with EVe-Radio guys and Sir Squeebles is a lot of fun lol I contribute to my alliance in other ways).

What I HAVE been doing is ungodly loads of PVE since day one (June 21, 2007). I mean a LOT of PVE. If serps, sanshas, Blood Raiders, Guristas, Angels, Rogue Drones and Sleepers were real people, the U.N. would be looking for me to try me for War Crimes in The Hague.

No one ever called what I was doing "sub-human" nor have I ever been ganked, mainly because while I was enjoying my pve I remembered at all times I was still playing a pvp game and didn't complain about people trying to do pvp in a pvp game. I've earned the respect of many a failed ganker/pirate by being a mature adult about things.

That's right. Because they are pirates. You can't expect video game pirates to fight fair any more than you can expect Somali Pirates IRL to attack a United States Carrier Battle Group. Trying to call them video game cowards for role-playing pirates correctly is the only subhuman thing I see here.

This is true, because both types of pirates, EvE and somali ship pirates, are bad people who do bad things against other real people.

Says the troll that just equated pirates in EVE to people that murder and kidnap people in real life.

I know that no one will ever be able to convince you that you are wrong. That doesn't relieve those of us who believe in the truth for posting the truth however.

The truth is that anyone who believes that a video game player roleplaying a pirate (in a game that celebrates in-game piracy) is in anyway equal to a real life murderer and theif (pirate) is, by definition, a Bad person IRL.

I deal with real bad people IRL and they all have one thing in common: They think they are in someway superior to others despite the fact that they aren't. It's probably why i find your (unreasonable) thinking so....familiar.

Absolutely. And IMO it's the inherent risks of being ganked or harassed that can make even mining somewhat of an adventure.

That's what I love about EVE. No matter what you do - trade, haul, mine, mission - there's always risks, but there's always measures you can take (if you can be bothered) to mitigate those risks. That game of cat and mouse, hunter/prey is a lot of fun for both sides (or it SHOULD be).

Back when I started EVE I dabbled in highsec mining like most players. As soon as I realized people would try to gank/can-flip me I was excited. I took my mining toons to lowsec to mine, and would keep a pair of drakes cloaked in a safe and ready to warp in whenever something landed on grid with my miner. Kinda noobish, but I had a ton of fun despite having little success.

The problem is people are lazy.

They don't want to sacrifice slots to tank or arm a barge.

They don't want to sacrifice alts (or friends) by having them run security instead of burning 'roids.

Lazy/greedy people will die, again and again.

I know people even today that have multiple-characters who live in w-space. For max profit they will use all toons to mine/farm simultaneously without sparing any to scout connecting holes. Because of this greed/laziness they are ganked almost weekly, resulting in more lost ISK and time than they could have made in a month. I realised this very early in my wormhole career, and even today I won't run an anom unless I have cloaked scouts on every connecting hole. Since taking the time to be cautious instead of greedy I can't remember the last time I was ganked running sites.

To mine/mission/farm anywhere is a challenge. You need to realise this and tackle the challenge appropriately. Asking for your barge to be buffed so you can engage in combat without even switching off your mining lasers is just defeatist and plain silly. If someone's not enjoying the challenges EVE throws at you then it's maybe not the game for them.

Actually, I don't think he believes any of this either. If you look at his posting history, he goes all the way back to day 1 on this char whining like a butthurt bittervet, trying to stir up a ****-storm in whatever forum thread interests him du jour.

Meanwhile, when you look at his killboard, from day 1 up until the last week or so he has an unbroken chain of dozens of unfit ship kills in FW plexing systems.

He's pretty clearly the FW plexing alt of a bittervet that is also being used to troll the forums, pretending to be a noob. I'm only bothering to reply because I am bored.

This is incorrect and I explained it already. Being new to the game, I asked for a good way to make money. According to you, I trolled it up on the forums pretending to be a noob whining like a butt hurt bitter vet trying to stir up a **** storm asking people how new people are suppose to make a profit in this game.

I was told FW. So at first I was doing FW missions, horrible horrible pay. Finally I figured out "plexing" and went to do defensive plexes in medium contested caldari systems. Great pay! Fantastic pay for a 2-3 week old character to be getting per hour. Like 15mil isk per hour as a noob, which is HUGE. But I kept dying. I was trying to fight back at first but after awhile I realized I can capture a site with zero fittings. So to minimize losses and maximize profit I just went out into space "naked". It was such good money that when I encounter a noob who asks how to make isk, what I did, how I did it, is what I tell him so he too can become space rich.

I'm a genius really. bitter vet? well not in this game. Alt, no. Noob? yes.

Hmm, a barge with 8 turrets and a full compliment of sentry drones.
Sounds like a pretty solid gankship to me. Cool

Take your medication. No, playing a game does not dehumanise anyone, and being able to adjust your morality to fit the context is a sign of health.

Your explanations do not match up with empirical observations. This is what makes you a hypocrite: because you keep applying different rules to others than you demand be applied to yourself. So no, he is right and you are wrong.

a ship that can fit 8 strip miners sounds like it's going to royally **** up mining as an activity.
