What's the best EVE novel?

I find myself strangely interested in reading some fiction set in the EVE universe, but my tolerance for terrible paint-by-number scifi is pretty low.

Are there any EVE novels with even a modicum of legit literary merit?

Just read the chronicles.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I will soon be releasing my sci-fi autobiographical novel "Abandon all hope: The unsuccessful voyages of Unsuccessful at Everything". It promises to be a riveting tale of undock asshattery, trade route freighter ganking, Mining barge removal and forum misbehavior mixed with my standard one-liners and unique brand of sarcasm. Coming soon(ish)!

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I read all 3 novels.

"EVE: The Empyrean Age by Tony Gonzales (Aug 4, 2009)" was very good - especially if you play EVE. Read this and then watch the trailers for the Empyrean Age expansion

"EVE: Templar One (Eve Universe) by Tony Gonzales (Jan 3, 2012)" was the s equal and not quite as good because it dealt with DUST 514 origins. But I enjoyed it too. Read this and see the trailer for "EVE Fanfest Cinematic Trailer 2012"

"EVE: The Burning Life by Hjalti Danielsson (Mar 30, 2010)" I didn't finish. I might be biased because I was hoping for more of the Age of Empyrean's characters. I should go back for this

Also EVE Source just came out. That's a great book to have. Lots of reference material and art.

Tbh, no.

That said, the Empyrean Age story itself is not totally unappealing to EVE players and is continued in Templar One.

The other book is mostly terrible.

Somehow I imagine that a possible motto in one of your epics is "no use being pessimistic about it, s&^t isn't gonna work anyway..."

Read everything you can by James 315. You will not be disappointed.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Having read Empyrean Age, The Burning Life, and Templar One cover to cover I would say Empyrean Age was my favorite (while they're all great novels in my opinion, Empyrean Age was the one I couldn't put down) followed by Templar One, which was also by Tony Gonzales and had a similar narrative style.

Burning Life isn't a bad read either though, it's about a young Blood Raider who's family's habitat is destroyed by an unknown capsuleer so he sets out to determine the identity of the capsuleer and seek his revenge. Along the way he joins the SOE and works as a disaster relief worker which gives the reader a new perspective on the carnage we as capsuleers so casually create on a daily basis. He also through his work with the SOE makes contact with various infamous heads of New Eden's criminal factions and with their help tracks down the capsuleer who killed his family and.... read the book to find out. :)

+1 for Empyrean age. It's now a well-aged tome that rests on my permanent bookshelf, and quite an enjoyable read.

My dog loves EVE novels, fiction, poetry and breathy fan praise.
Thing is, it goes in easier than it comes out.

I haven't read any of the EvE novels, but the entries in the 2012 Pods and Planets competition are worth a read.

While all short stories, some of them are really cracking reads.

Unfortunately I couldn't quite get into the stories this year as none of them really held my attention, but that may be because my attention span is getting shorter and not the fault of the stories.

About time for a new EVE novel, perhaps fleshing out some of the new player constructed stargate lore.

Anything by Tony is good.

The Burning life however was disjointed and not easy to read.

Both Th Empyrean age and templar one I've read many times...Burning life just the once..
