CCP employee uses forum alt to post thread about Riot paying better than CCP in hopes of receiving a raise.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Now THAT is some tinfoil hatting. EVE's meta gets meta meta'd.

EVE is heading towards its twilight years, probably isn't as exciting to work @ CCP on the EVE project. Nothing surprising.

Doesn't take much to poach, LoL is pretty lucrative ( http://www.gamespot.com/articles/league-of-legends-revenues-for-2013-total-624-million-update/1100-6417224/ ). The revenue difference is massive and LoL isn't even on top the ARPPU list for F2P MMOs. More money to spend on development luxuries, more excitement. I sometimes wonder if CCP ought to explore spawning off easy to play, short F2P MMO other than EVE (no, DUST doesn't really qualify as one). We shall see.

P.S. The ship painting/Aurum initiative is a logical step towards increasing revenue, but they're attempting to draw water from a well. Not a river or lake. Spend too much time and focus on it, they may lose the big picture.

Well lets see, they have valkariye, which could be a smash hit, depending on how well its made and what business model they use , i.e. pay $60 up front and buy expantions. 2) comes free with a rift and is free to play with micro transactions. 3) its subscription. So there is a quick rev boost if its good. You also have World of Darkness in development hell, which if that ever gets out could provide a good cash cow. And you have the mobile division, which if they start dropping cheap $1-$10 mobile games and apps could bring in cash. CCP is expanding past eve, and there are a lot of things coming that could bring it a nice chunk of cash. OFC these also could flop and cost ccp a ton of money.

I do not understand why people care where a dev goes. I miss CCP Ovuer but he's been gone for a while, and we know that TomB is still around as he said hi in a post a few months ago. CCP is a company, people get better offers to jump ship, they get bored with there jobs no matter how fun, or have a life event that makes them have to move on. Just because a few guys go to company X doesn't mean much. It usually means that person 1 went to company x, and at a later date person 2 asked person 1 to toss in a good word for them to get a job. This is normal, and people jump ship and move on all the time. Sometimes they even get bored at the new company and come back (as long as company 1 did not fire them)

So I would say this is not anything to worry about. I'm sure you have a ton of turn over in blizzard, and EA and other big companies.

Its like when people go 'OMG CCP HIRED AN EA GUY WE ARE DOOMED!" No, they hired a guy, who used to work for EA. And even if that guy still holds a job at EA (this happens a lot oddly on Boards of Directors) doesn't really mean much either. You hire people for various reasons, and people leave for the same. its sad to see some of the better and more liked dev's go, but its life.

When you lament the transition of CCP employees and actually follow them around, then you are losing touch with reality.

EVE is a GAME.

"CCP (enter name here)" is an employee.

There is life outside of EVE but it seems for many, EVE is your life. That is not healthy.

Its a hostile take over of Riot 1 developer at a time.

srs though, if you expect the average guy in a tech company like CCP would keep their job for 5 years, then CCP will lose ~60 employees per year to that turnover.

notice the responses he got. Ha Good luck helping that community.

I work in the same building as RIOT in Santa Monica California and that company is one fire right now. When they moved in they were a few hundred people and now they are everywhere (and not a pretty sight). It looks like a fun place to work - lots of energy and prob really good pay.

In contrast I visited a friend at Blizzard and it was... quiet. RIOT must be at the top of the "best place to work" right now, and if E-Sports (shout-casting) catches on the company will do well.

As long as Torfi and Hilmar stay with EVE it is just going to get every year - as it has for 10.

EVE is better than it has ever been. No question.

The "welcome to hell" comment made me smirk, I'm surprised that Navigators response wasn't "I came from Eve Online, hell is a holiday"

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Its EVE's meta IRL, Navigator has not "left" CCP at all its just corporate theft on a real life scale.
