What To Do In Game

Hi Community,

I've lost direction in the game. I love this MMO and the open sandbox design, but I currently find myself bored with it. I started playing Eve with dreams of galactic conquest, wealth, power, etc. I've tried a lot of different careers, but can't seem to settle on one that I find rewarding. Any input would be appreciated.

If the char you are posting with is your main you seem to be a month old - so not old enough to have tried anything in any great detail. Find a player corp that is heavily into something you think you "might" like - wormholes/pvp/industry or whatever - anything. You need to give it time, there is a lot to learn and it takes time to really get a full picture.

Turn on your fabulous ship spinning feature, with the counter activated. And, while you go for your million, listen to the ambient station sounds trying not to slowly lose your mind. You pay more for less every day.

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

Don't give us too many details on what you've done so far...

What interests you? It is a sandbox so you honestly need to make your own game.

3 years in a Megathron is 3 years well spent.

This is the issue with eve. There is no "winning". I recently found a way to generate a lot of isk and now dont have much need for isk. So that has really put the question in front of me, what do I WANT to do. I used to haul/mission etc for isk. Now I don't need to. But I realized it's just the same as real life. There is no answer to eternal happiness. You have to figure out what you like. I realized I want high standings with certain NPC corps so I can do things later like use agent locators/pos etc. So that's what I'm doing.

There's no pre-defined "winning". You can define your own definition of it, though.

I am winning. Through multiple low-effort income sources I have enough ISK to just PvP. I have found my niche in PvP which I enjoy greatly, and I am still immersing myself in it, trying new stuff and discovering new tactics. I have some moderate respect as a PvP pilot for my accomplishments. I also lead a PvP corp that recently broke the 100 member count, with a lot of members who share my interests, and many who were trained from day one to be great pilots (with some surpassing me, too). On top of all this, I have coded a variety of public and private tools to make ISK or enhance my (and others') Eve experience. This all is very satisfying, and it feels like a great "hobby career".

It all comes down to being contented and having fun. What do you find fun?

Acquiring wealth and power requires many poor peasants.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Sometiems it can be hard to find what you want to do in EvE. It's a game offering many different venues, some of those are even unique to it's one-shard nature (one universe with everyone in it)

I was a long time drifting in EvE as well, but the community kept me playing (Eve community is a great bunch, on condition you don't take kills personal)
Tried various things, missions, salvage-operations for others, roaming around in low, be an E-War specialist in fleets, exploration and lots more.
Many of those activities I enjoyed, some more then others (NPC nullsec as E-War specialist was extremely fun!) but still, they didn't completely futhfill what I was seeking.

In the end, I did find my way in EvE, as a writer about events (CCP & player ones) & short stories in the EvE universe. How I ended up here? I always enjoyed writing, and EvE gives me a great & fun outlet for that. It's one-shard universe also means if you mention an event, irrelevant if it's CCP or player-run, people will heared of it, or say *Neat! That happened in the universe I played!*

Why i'm telling this? For the OP, try to search soemthing you enjoy and think otuside the box for it. Some people travel the universe, seeing sights very few have seen, others seek challenge and live a life fully in lowsec, enjoying the additonal challenges it brings, etc.
In the end, we can only give tips & hints, but it's up to the OP to seek them out and try m, or try some existing content with a twist added to it.

As with any MMO, make friends, any activity is fun so long as it is done with friends. Big smile
