I've been looking on BC for fits and noticed there is now a Fleet issue Hurricane...

I found some nice solo/small gang fits for it, but I do have a question about them... How are they?

Are they better than the Original cane? How about for Piracy? I'm just getting back into the game after a break since 2011, so I'm playing catch up. I'm interested in honest opinions.

Here is one I tend to favor.... I enjoy a bit more speed

Armor Cane is fine.

Altough the navy BCs have a very little benefit over their T1 counterparts. especially for the ISK they cost.

I think a hamdrake, XL ASB Cyclone or triple rep Myrm will do just as good as the fleet cane.

Other than that. I really like the fits above.

Maybe try 2x LSE II instead of 1x LSE and 1x Invuln.
But I guess that is just personal preference.

Thanx for the answer. I USED to fly a HAM Drake and a Cane, and fiscally it would be better to use T1 ships. I will likely just use those, but a Navy ship isn't too bad once in a while.

But if the benefit isn't much with them or any at all) then it's just an over priced T1 ship....

If memory serves me right (could be terribly wrong here), Hurricane fleet issue is the same as the pre-nerf hurricane with better sensor strength and slightly better ehp and sensible pricetag for the performance you get.

EVE is what happens when the rule of law does not apply and Darwinism is allowed to run freely.

Honestly I would stick to the regular Cane, the only Navy BC that I feel is worth it is the N.Harb, 5 mids and tracking bonus really give it a good edge over the regular Harb, and it's quite cheap for a Navy BC.

IIRC, triple rep Myrma would roll over nano Canes, and that was pre nerf. Even post Navy BC's, the navy cane is simply a slightly tankier, old hurricane. I'd say stick with a Myrm for all arround goodness

Canes suck, navy cane even worse. All BC's these days are lacking. Sadly not only is the hurricane a BC but it also is using a horrible weapon system to boot. Currently it fills no place in the metal at another ship cannot already do much better, and in many cases for a lot less isk.

Except for the 30% more ehp, the one thing the Fleet Cane does better (and worth to fly if so inclined) are the 2 Medium Neuts in utility slots, as opposed to 1 Small Neut for a regular Hurricane.

And yes, you need to downgrade to 220mm AC to fit 2 medium neuts, which is fine, you gain much in tracking over the 425mm for a brawler, and range is not an issue.

It is also pretty cheap, if you compare to Naby Harby or Navy Brutix.

That being said, I almost stopped flying any BC entirely, they are way too slow now with the warp acceleration and warp speed nerf. You could say that a BC was more or less on par with a HAC in the past - BCs got nerfed, HACs got buffed, guess what I fly?

Starr, you present the best argument by far against using a BC of any sort. Maybe it will do to put up a Drake if in a gang, but certaily not solo if BC's have been nerfed that bad (I find this stupid BTW, why the nerf?)

I enjoy HAC's, and I think they may be the largest ship I fly for PvP. If solo, I think a Frigate is always best. Cheaper to lose and will do well if you choose your targets wisely.

Oh, BCs still got their niche use, and I own quite a few, so will use one from time to time if I need to upship and one happen to be close by. Some of them with 4/5 utility midslots and large drone bay are still good for Hisec gate camping, to catch the unwary mission runner BS or BC.

For example, my old regular Hurricanes didn't have quite the buffer tank to kill a, say, a well tanked, full t2 mission Navy Raven without help or reps. The Fleet Cane does.

Niche uses.

And yes, Frigates, especially faction or T2 are pretty nice for solo roaming. Big smile
