Why did they have to move the button? What?

YES! The number of times I've fumbled and clicked empty UI element is frustrating. I also somewhat enjoyed the bit of skill involved when having to do some mental math and figure out how many AUs you were scanning, where now it's just a slider.

I wonder if this means more people will actually be watching dscan? Blink

Actually, if the hunter is any good, spamming dscan won't save you.

It's much easier & faster to pinpoint the prey. If in a relic, just pinpoint the exact one, drop combat probes off dscan, warp in closer, 5 second scan, recall probes & then finally violence.

PRO TIP: Know the triggers via dscan wrecks. Bears never hit dscan right after a new wave has spawned. Too busy locking targets/shooting leaving a good 8-10 second window.

The new D-scan is awesome!
They just shouldn't have moved the button.

They can only filter one at a time. If you (don't) give more than one, the forums break. Congratulations. You broke the forums.

In pleased that the angular scan slider was changed. Though my muscle memory has me instantly dragging it all the way to the left instead of the hash mark for 5°. But I'll get comfortable with it.

ITT: Slow brains failing to change their muscle memory.

It's no problem, I've already gotten used to it.

They should improve the UI by making the "Scan" button a circular radar-like icon, similar to the scan interface button to the left of the capacitor.

Just my opinion.

why the hell is the distance slider in arbitrary steps?
makes it fkn useless since you need much finer steps than that...

I actually disagree to most people ive talked to about this. I like the changes to the D-scan overall, the angle slider is great, little icon to show u the degrees of scan.
the km to au converter is a nice touch for those who cant do division in there head.

But i hate the distance slider, complete oversight in my opinion, it isnt a slider. its a slider with fixed values, but you can only have 0 or 5 or 10 or max au, so for any other range you need to type it in, so its just like the old way.
IMO it should be fully slidable across all ranges, but have a snap to function to stick to 5 or 10 au like they want, but to not be able to slide from 5 to 7.5 au its a horrible oversight.
Any who uses for instance music software will understand the behaviour im talking about.

Hmmm good point... they should have made it snap to probe ranges i.e. 0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 14.3

Ya Rek, i dont care what ranges they have it snap too, but not being able to slide up the ranges, stupid UI design imo.
doesnt have to be linear either, could be exponential, but i want to be able to slide up to a range between 5 and 10, other wise its not a slider, its just fancy buttons

I'd actually prefer if the AU scale would increment/decrement by more than 0.1 per mouse wheel tick. Mouse-scrolling 1 AU at a time would actually make it useful and an improvement over what we used to have; currently it's a minimal net benefit at best. (Perhaps do shift-mouse wheel for 0.1 ?)
