I'd love to have a linux client again. I had to reinstall windows just for eve when they dropped the old linux client.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

lets let them get the current code into the not-**** region, followed by improvements in current features involving that code, before we ask them to translate an entire game's code to a different language, learn that language, then try to figure out how to write these supposedly difficult code-issues in a brand new language.

Nobody said that the Linux client had to appear overnight. I do, however, agree that this should be of interest to CCP.

A proper Linux client would be amazing and put EVE in a category that few other games occupy.

I am a Mac user. Though the client doesn't give me to many problems the windows version via wine-devel runs just a little better for me.

So for now mr Linux user, check out wine-devel

That's the thing, the devs don't need to code anything. All this does is intercept DX Calls and replace it with the OGL call. It's basically the same as what Wine does.

Assuming that it's a step up from WINE's performance--which has come a long way itself since the build that EVE's Mac client currently uses--that's very good news! Thanks for the link.

EvE runs absolutely fine, doesnt it?
Why would anyone waste precious developer resource on a zero gain project?
