Why do my weapon hardpoints not have a numerical readout?

I really don't appreciate having to count dots each time I don't remember how many hard-points a certain ship has. Why do we even need dots? The point of the feature is to represent available hard points. It can easily say "0/7" or "4/7" to illustrate the same point.

We aren't 8 year old children CCP, we don't prefer pictures over raw information. Add back the numerical readout please.

Put some paint on your ship and shut it.

stupid.

Just like it would be stupid to give us 7 highslot icons instead of the number 7 next to the highslot icon.

It is odd that's for sure. Personally I don't like the practicality of it for two reasons.

Firstly, of course counting dots is not as intuitive as having the number.

Secondly, In this example you can see that the red arrowed information is on the left (in the case for turreted ships) and yet in all other cases, and as demonstrated by the green box area, as well as in every other place I can think of the attribute is on the left and the value is on the right.

The key thing about keeping that kind of format is consistency, allowing for faster scanning of information. Now, instead of simply looking down the right hand side for the information you are expecting, your eyes will be bouncing left and right. Mixing values in line with attributes is messy!

I don't hate it but it is a piece of UI design that I don't understand the logic behind and I feel is less intuitive, which for me is the main point of a UI - to provide as much information as clearly and quickly as possible to the user in the easiest possible way to digest.

I've come to the conclusion that these decisions are sometimes made as a stealth way to gauge community passion for the game.

They troll us with changes and then see how many people come to complain about it.

If lots complain, then lots of people are passionate about the game and CCP is on the right track.

If no one complains, then no one cares and they have a problem.

I would say from this thread that they'll conclude they are currently doing things well.

Lol Big smile

I hope that my congratulating them on excellent d-scanning improvements earlier doesn't mean they take it as a lack of passion and revert the changes Shocked

I have no idea how many hardpoints my ships have.

I just drag turrets until I can't anymore.

Bug report it.
If they close it for “working as intended”, re-open the report and explain that their intent is incorrect.

it is consistent with the fittings tab and if you can't count the dots, should you be allowed to play with anything more complex than a block of wood?

Counting up to 8 dots.

Apparently that is too much to ask.
