Anyone else downloading at like 200 KB/s for no reason? Going to take like 2 hours for the patch.

And now after 2 1/2 hours it freezes with 90 MB left Evil

I'm not even getting 200kb/s I think... Sad

Seriously though can we get the Gold Amarr ships back? I loved how majestic they looked. I'm really not a fan of the dull brown and beige color scheme. I know it's a minor little niggle, but still. Amarr ships looked glorious, now they look like turds.

I'm on the fence with the new lighting changes. The Raven I normally fly looks just fantastic now - and I particularly like how the launchers now blend better with the ship hull. All the Amarr ships look just wicked, although I did notice that the reds appear brighter and the golds more muted. Maybe it's a graphics card thing?

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Maybe the ships are prettier, but I'd be just as happy with monochrome wireframe if it worked better. The only functional thing I've noticed in 1.3 so far is that everything in the game got sluggish and jumpy, where it ran pretty smoothly before. Kind of sucks that I have to turn my graphics settings down just to smooth it out again, now I can't see your pretty new paint jobs/. Sad

Like many other players Skins for ships has been on my "wish list" for years but I gotta agree with the posters above me.

When asking for skins I can say with certainty that most players wanted the option to mod their existing ships rather than an infusion of hundreds of special edition ships but most probably understand that for an initial test of general interest and how worthwhile it would be to dedicate resources to such a project, the way this initial wave was handled was just prudent business sense.

Don't get me wrong, the new ships are certainly going to sell. People have wanted them too badly for too long to boycott them but the way they were implemented (while certainly less resource intensive given the uncertain nature of the feature) should really be re-evaluated for a future update-

Add a customization slot similar to Rig slots to ships.
Add basic paint schemes as BPOs via marketplace.
Scale paint to ship size as Rigs are scaled (bigger ships need more paint after all)
Allow "T2" paint schemes to be researched - these would be airbrush/decal designs such as Flames or Lightning bolts etc.
CONCORD and other faction themed paint schemes as AUR purchase.
Paint including a Corp/Alliance Logo as AUR purchase.

By increasing accessibility to paint schemes and making them a module rather than a special edition ship you make them more likely to actually get used. Ships that get used blow up. Ships that blow up need to be replaced...

Breaking the paint schemes down by size groups allows more gradual implementation. ei This month Camo Frigate, next month Camo Cruisers, etc.

For AUR purchase I see 2 scenarios.
1- Sell a custom painted ship, player sits in station and spins it. It becomes a one-off purchase.
2 - Sell bucket of custom paint in packs with larger packs being slightly more cost effective.

By selling the paint at a reduced initial cost and in quantities you make players feel less protective of their shiny paint job. They'll fly them rather than hoarding them as they're sitting on a stack of paint anyway or they'll sell them in the market. Either way the result becomes that AUR purchased paints are being blown up resulting in more purchases over time. You'll make less money the day the paint goes live but you'll make it back in the long run.

Also seeing EXCEPTIONALLY slow download speed. The bandwidth/bottleneck is clearly not my home network (Verizon FiOS), because my PC is getting about 35Mbps to speedtest.net - and everything else is fast. But it's now been about 2.5 hours, and it's only 82% complete. For now, it's still progressing... slowly.

Not happy to have lost my whole evening of gameplay! :-(

No, the bottleneck is not on our end. CCP is more interested in building monuments to it's own awesomeness and big press events to donate to charities than providing quality services to it's customers. You get very little press when you upgrade your equipment, but build a monument or run a player charity drive and you're called awesome in the press in every nation in the world. It's all about marketing, see. Product doesn't matter, only media exposure.

Now tell me again how superior the rest of the world is to us market-driven 'merikans

It appears that the new lighting changes messed with the rocks around shattered planets. Not a big deal obviously.
Picture of the black rocks, they look cool even though they are broken.

Just to report back that it did *eventually* complete, and the patch applied OK.

Anybody else having problems with their framerates dropping while fighting cruisers? I could run the game on high quality through lvl 4 missions with no problems, but now my framerate drops to single digits while ratting when fighting cruisers. I've played with my graphics settings and havent been able to find a solution yet.

Update: After 4+ hours of downloading and applying I was able to log in.

And everything looks like toys. Seriously, my ships look like die-cast models of the ships I used to fly. My Loki looks like a Matchbox ship, half of my Talos looks like polished pot-metal, and my Nemesis looks like a charm that should be hanging from a rearview mirror. The entire sense of scale of giant ships diffusing and reflecting massive amounts (thanks Shadoo) of light is gone. I'm afraid to get in my Rifter because somebody might try to plug a USB cable into my backside Shocked

My feedback:

NYX looks so bad I want to self destruct it.
Why did you ruin a perfect ship? Seriously. It was perfect in every way and now some color blind ****** decided to make it look like a tard. Colors out of balance, dark (big black patches on the rear) parts making it look like it's missing stuff, WTF!!

Go ******* fix something and leave good stuff as they ARE!

So far so good, i like the new graphics though perhaps the colour of the amarr ships is a little browner than i would usually go for. 100% like the price of the new skins, i think they are more than fair!
