Which special snow flake decided that to put a skin on the ship has to be repackaged?

It would be nice to have the skins but I don't really wanna have to destroy like 45 mill of rigs on a pre-existing ship to get it.

Hopefully salvaged materials and rig prices will rise in the short term. Ship skinning is serious business.

"Special Snow Flake"?

What does that even mean...

the new skins are just a test mate

so ccp hasn't invested more development resources into the system than they need to

i imagine that if they do a full implementation of ship skins, they'll make the system a lot less clunky

All ships are actually just a 'Dot' with a given set of attributes, when you put rigs on your Dot you are giving it a different set of attributes, wanting to change the colour of your Dot requires changing the first set of attributes, and that must be done before changing the second....

The more I try to describe this the worse it gets; Your Dot can only be a special Dot before you make it into a buffed Dot.

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

actually it is simplier: CCP made it (temporarily) so skinned ship is A DIFFERENT SHIP than original. They are different items with different IDs in database. That's why it is only few skins at the moment.

If people will use skins CCP will make real system to handle it.

Thank you CCP for the repackaging feature of the skins- nice touch +1!

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

I concur. However, this is a pilot program - and I think when it's fully implemented we'll be able to do this (since supercapitals and wormhole-based ships can't dock).

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Since you're a pretty effective pvp player, why bother skinning your ships at all?

They are going to blow up at some point and my understanding is the current skins are single application only.

Seems like a waste of money really - unless you are wanting to skin an industrial ship for an alt.

Police Comet looks good skinned though. A fleet of 50 - 100 would look impressive.
