Ouch on two counts, CCP

First off, file size. 11.39 Gigabytes seems just a tiny bit on the enourmous side of a rounding error from 5.8 or whatever the official total should be. But that would be fine except...

The patch straight up ganked my Application Support folder for my main Eve client. All 3 support folders with my Overview settings, window settings, all the little settings that we have no good way of saving before a patch are toast. I suppose it might not be critical, but it's going to be a few hours for me to fix it all, then days to figure out what I've missed in fixing it.

Just insanely frustrating, since I was happy that I didn't have to do a reinstallation dance for the 3rd patch in a row. Now it seems I only get to skip the 5gig download part of that experience.

Unfortunately, I'm guessing that there's nothing to be done for me on issue #2, but hopefully CCP can get this fixed for the late patchers.

From the patch notes:
Quote:

UI

We will be monitoring the overview settings during extreme scenarios, such as a massive fleet engagement, to ensure that the overview will display properly in all cases. Should you notice any unusual behavior, we would appreciate if you could send a detailed bug report.
Window settings on Tranquility have been reset as part of the changes to UI and UI scaling. We are sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause to saved windows.

I think this is maybe the part that got you

As far saving stuff, you can always click on a folder and use cmd-d and it will make a duplicate folder, just rename it XXX.old and poof, insta-backup prior to patch

That's fine. I lost the settings folder to the patch. Overview settings, chat channels (though the channel window fixed tha right up), graphics settings. Basically as if I had freshly installed the client. That's the part that annoyed me.

EDIT: As for backups, I probably should have. But deleting and recreating the settings folder from scratch during patching is unexpected behavior. Never happened before. Even installing fresh you can usually point the client to the folder and it'll work.

Speaking of Backups: You don't have Time Machine running?

If you have, just try to get the settings from there...

If you don't have, you really should...

... I'd forgotten all about that. I'll check that. Any thoughts on what files to copy over?
