I'm sure all of mankind, throughout the ages, has been held hostage by "pussy" to some degree or another.

House cats are barely domesticated in the first place. It doesn't take much to bring the wild back out.

Tactical destroyers... I'll take a dozen Gallente, please.

That family is a disgrace to red-blooded Murikan values and traditions. They should be forced to watch a John Wayne, Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood, and Chuck Norris marathon film festival.

To say the least. Then again, some pet owners tend to over-humanize animals and give them too much power. Pets are good companions and their owners should endeavor to give them the best care and treatment possible, but they are still animals.

The proper pecking order needs to be stressed with the human(s) at the top (alpha) and the pet at the bottom of the chain. This linked story shows what happens to bad/weak pet owners that are not capable of caring for and controlling their pets.

Or the guy new that he could not restrain himself if he let himself do what he really wanted to do without harming the cat irreparably. Not sure killing the family pet, in front of the kids, is the best option...when it is....just a cat.

That being said, I would have just grabbed the cat by the tuft of skin on its back, taken the claws I got, and tossed the feline out the door like a wet rag. That is how I did it to the family cats growing up when they pressed the limits. They now what the actions mean and the still returned for dinner.

That makes sense Slade. He probably couldn't figure out a way to deal with the family pet without going into full-on human vs. cat combat. Which wouldn't have been good for the family pet at all.

I recently read this Rudyard Kipling fable thing called "The Cat that Walked by Himself." It's about how Cat became domesticated and started living with Man, Woman, Baby and Dog. It's a great story and kind of insightful about cat psychology and cats as house pets.

I love that fable. I love cats and dogs, animals in general, but I prefer cats. Dogs for forcibly domesticated. Traits isolated and breed, rinsed and repeated. Manufactured affection so to speak. Whereas with cats it tends to be voluntary. Again this is just my opinion. There is nothing wrong with preferring dogs and I do not hate on people that prefer dogs, but hey that is why I prefer cats.

P.S. Thank you very much for the site. I see myself losing a good bit of time there Bear

Having been around cats my entire life, an angry cat can be kind of scary, but can easily be dealt with nonviolently by somebody whom knows what they're doing. Water bottles/Guns will usually cause the cat to retreat (one of my old cats would run just when seeing a water bottle), tossing a blanket overtop of the offending animal, and so-on.

From what I saw of this on HLN, I'm guessing it was an inexperienced pet owner that panicked. It also seemed like the cat was pretty calm when the actual news crew showed up later.

You might like these: Carolina dog, also called American Dingo or Native American Dog. They're feral dogs from the swampy lowlands around South Carolina. They share DNA with Australian dingos, so the theory is that their ancestors migrated from Asia with Native Americans, rather than coming from Europe like most American dogs.

We have one at home, and he's different than any dog I've had before. Very affectionate and really smart, but just acts different than other dogs I've had. Just more wild in every way that a regular dog. It tooks some time, but we've been able to "train" him to be a good house pet. But it's not because we got him whupped and he knows he's the dog and we're the masters. It's more like he figured out that the good behaviors keep everybody happy, so he made the decision to do them.
