In-Game Events and Gatherings

Hello, capsuleers! Thank you all for coming to my Christmas party! Now, I give you another event:

March 22, 2013, was a monumental day for all of us, especially those in Live Events, the Gallente and Caldari Militias, and those of us in Luminaire. The Battle of Caldari Prime/Luminaire VII has left all of us with very fond memories (or outrage and anger, depending on how you look at things).

Long story short, for the sake of Live Events, or in-game gatherings, I'm hosting another in-game gathering!

Luminaire VII, "Operation Highlander Beacon"
-above the planet itself, where the battle took place; since not everyone has the actual position of 20,000 km closer planetside saved
March 22, 2014 (Saturday)
EVE Time: 1700 (1 pm for USA EST)

Officially, I'd like this to be "a gathering of all veterans and friends of the Battle of Caldari Prime to come together to share stories and memories, and to celebrate the lives of those who served, and those lives lost." From a roleplay perspective, it can be observed as a day of victory, as well as terrible loss. And, it can also be observed as one of the most successful live events ever executed.

So, we all have reasons to be proud!

After discussing the details with colleagues and those in Live Events, NewEdenRadio, and other channels, and realizing what game mechanics would allow us to execute, I've got the following ideas for additional activities during the event:

*speeches delivered by participants, and possibly actors provided they appear

*battle reenactment hosted by Red vs. Blue; they have given me a "tentative yes"


Changes may be made based on the responses I get here and in Live Events. I encourage everyone interested to chat with me in the Live Events channel.

Note: Since Faction Warfare rules will be enabled, Caldari militia will not be able to enter Luminaire. However, perhaps a concurrent event can be held in, say, New Caldari?

Note: Invites have been extended to Red Federation, Blue Republic, and EVE University to see if they are interested in fielding combat fleets to participate in a "reenactment" of the battle. Thank you, DJ Daggaroth for suggesting this!

I've spoken to DJ Daggaroth and DJ Tranze at New Eden Radio; they are both on board with attending the event and playing music for it at www.newedenradio.com!

NER was a huge help during the snowball fight!

Also, CCP Falcon tells me that it is a "possibility" that he might drop by! (no word on the Battle of Caldari Prime medals yet, though...but I imagine they're being worked on or on the backburner since we've seen so many new awesome developments so far!).

Update: After speaking with Commander A9 I will be raffling off a Chimera class Caldari Carrier during the event.

Will be there for sure. I can fly any high sec accessible ship, so whatever is needed and works.

Note: Anyone who participates as a member of the Missing Man Formation gets an Empire Faction Frigate of his/her choice after the formation is complete!

The Missing Man formation is very simplistic; I already established start and end points for it. Simply align to said points when the music sequence in question begins ("Taps"), and I will handle the pull-up to create the missing point in the formation. The rest of the formation will pass over the Highlander beacon. Just maintain speed and position; simple as that!

There is no maximum limit on pilots!
