With the introduction of the new "cosmetic" variations of several ships in tuesdays patch which include

  • Punisher Kador Edition
  • Merlin Nugoeihuvi Edition
  • Rifter Krusual Edition
  • Incursus Aliastra Edition
  • Abaddon Kador Edition
  • Rokh Nugoeihuvi Edition
  • Maelstrom Krusual Edition
  • Hyperion Aliastra Edition

Now i know the rules states that if a ship is banned its Specific Hull type is banned (Banning a Suukavesta Heron, only bans the Suukavesta Heron and not the original heron)

But due to these being labeled as "Cosmetic Skins" by the patch notes, do they still apply under that rule?
(My assumption is they still only ban that particular ship instead of the entire line of hulls)

Also if they did not apply to that rule

If CCP does expand the idea of ship skinning, would it effect future Alliance tournaments and NEO's, giving these 8 ships arent particularly common bans but could always come up

Considering the expense of bringing one (or two, or three) compared to simply bringing equivalent vanilla T1 frigates that weren't banned, I doubt it would be a problem one way or another.

The banning tool does list all sorts of ships individually - you may recall the Tash-Murkon Magnate being banned once.

For the purposes of ship banning in the NEO II, each of these ships count as different types and would need to be banned separately.

If we expand the system further we will reevaluate for future tournament rules.

Is this because of a technical limitation?

It's the same rule already in place for all the other faction reskins (which are mostly Catalysts and scanning frigs, IIRC).

Lol

Two of these going at it at once would make for an amusing brawl.
