I'm missing PacScan in the devblog

For the rest, quite some useful changes!

Seeing the D-Scan improvements as they developed was one of my favourite things about the last few weeks. I can't wait for them to hit TQ!

Awesome work ! Can we by chance add modules or remove them in the info window by drag and drop for example ? That would make things even better imho.

This, the fun that could be had would be awesome, I have fond memories of some old IRC channels that used to have the ability for admins to replace certain words with others

Thanks, great changes to the scanner and the ability to turn off blink on different notifications is useful.

I also liked the allusion to Through a Scanner Darkly in the blog title (which is an allusion to the biblical 'through a glass darkly') Cool

Some nice improvements there, nice work.

It wasn't obvious but can you save the fittings from the fitting tab from show info window? As that would be handy feature for that tab.

I haven't looked on Sisi at the changes. Did the window have its default width adjusted so that fleet hangar chevrons are visible?

Would be neat to bold words like 'need cap / capacitor' on a logi pilot... that is if members in your fleet don't understand the broadcast button.
The highlight/filter was very powerful in release candidate 1: You could define filters that, e.g. matched "waypoint 1", "waypoint 2", every waypoint followed by space and digits, or you could make whole lines stick out by leading and trailing *** that matched your criteria, or all words being a combination of 8 letters or digits, or everything starting with a capital X, or everything framed by capital Xs, or you could spam filter every possible spelling of 'carebear', no matter the injected extra characters or spaces, etc., and you could ***-out whole lines that contained your spam words, actually removing the nuisance.

That's all gone now.

For now?

Why waste all that chat space? If you wanted to know what's behind the asterisks, why filter at all? Originally you could shorten a whole line of trade hub spam to three little * with this. Win!

That's what the fitting window is for, isn't it? Smile Besides, I don't want to find out what happens if you try to modify a ship's fitting half-way across the universe. You know, space-time continuum and all that. Roll

No, currently you can't. However, it is something I considered and I may add a way to do that in the future.

  • DScan changes, best changes!Big smile Everything pales in comparison. ♥♥♥ Every single tweak there turns out very useful; mouse wheel support, clicking anywhere, auto-scan on change, etc.! So great, so very practical. And pacscan at least is hilarious. Smile
  • Neocom notification: Every. Single. Time. That's why they've been off completely since day 2 or so. Return of the notification! ♥
  • Cargo bars, all at one glance. Nice! ♥
  • Word Filtering and Highlighting: Helpful. ♡ I don't understand why you didn't see the tremendously more powerful version fit for release, but I will assume good reasons. Still makes me a little sad. Sad So. Many. Possibilities...

Stealth deletes are bad.

It really is great to see the continued evolution of the UI. You are doing God's work and extra credit for the titular Philip K. **** reference. :)

[edit: oh the irony - commenting on a devblog which includes chat channel word filtering and I'm auto-censored for mentioning the author of 'A Scanner Darkly']

Earlier (1.2) under-the-hood changes to the tracking camera - presumably to support the ongoing D-scan improvements - had resulted in some odd behaviour which negatively impacted on the camera's use for aesthetic and cinematic purposes (particularly any Z-axis rotation).

I note that the final paragraph of the devblog makes references to ongoing tracking camera functionality changes, could somebody (CCP Delegate Zero is aware of the specifics) confirm that those use-case issues have been resolved?

We have heard your pleas (and done some begging and crying ourselves), but we have much more ambitious ideas for the scanner. So we have, to be honest, been a bit reluctant to just put a tiny patch on it.

oh boy oh boy oh boy

dscan is so utterly essential in space but it's so clunky

i'm like the dude been using two sticks to make fire and someone just announced the lighter'll be invented soon

Also looking forwards to the new fitting tab, I've hated having to switch ships or use 'view contents' to see the fit. Since we'll soon have this tool as well as the Unified Inventory, consider getting rid of 'view contents' altogether? It'll be superflous everywhere except the assets window.

Thanks for all these.

I'm very appreciative of the word filtering. I agree that it would be nice to be able to set filtering parameters for chat channels I own as well, that apply to all participants.

And one person's question about dragging/dropping modules in the Fitting tab makes me wonder if there's any possibility of having an in-game fitting sandbox in the near future. I think there will always be a place for out-of-game tools so you can fiddle with fits without having to run the game client (love EVE Droid on my Moto X!), but you really should be able to test fits in game without having to buy modules.

But, again, thanks much for continually improving the game. The D-scan changes will improve game play tremendously!
