With Rubicon 1.3, deployed on March 12th, we introduce many "little" improvements which nicely improve the user experience: better handling of the directional scanner, word filter and highlighting in chat channels, additional information to the ship info window and more!

Read all about these wonderful improvements in the blog U and I - Through a Scanner Lightly from CCP karkur and CCP Merc.

Constructive feedback is most welcome in this thread.

March 12th? I thought it was the 11th. From the last dev blog:

"There has always been a lot of enthusiasm for the possibility of customizing the paint scheme of EVE Online’s internet spaceships. I am excited to let you in on a little secret: In Rubicon 1.3 (11 March) we will begin gathering data that will help us make your larger dreams of ship “skinning” come true!"

The Knights of Nii approve. Especially me, since the scanning angle changes means I will not have to make real my threat to publicly cry unmanly tears at Fanfest.

It's these little things you might not have even realized you were missing, but can make a huge difference. Or maybe it's a small thing that has been nagging you for ages and it's finally better, making it just as good Cool

Super hot.

Would be neat to bold words like 'need cap / capacitor' on a logi pilot... that is if members in your fleet don't understand the broadcast button.

Edit: I think the * function will make for a great drinking game during ops...

Looks good, but the jump clone display seems a bit pointless. I've never seen anybody store jump clones in a ship for more than a minute or two.

I love the new word highlighting! I have a request for future tweeks though.

1) Can we have some other kind of notification for our highlight words besides a blink? Maybe the channel tab blinks green (or any different color), maybe a notification noise, maybe a little Attention appears in front of the channel name? The problem I'm going to have is that a lot of channels I want to see when anyone talks, so I have blink always on for those channels. I would also like to know when someone says my name in those channels too though, and since they're blinking for anything, I'm likely to miss that.

2) Can we have the asterisk represent the number of characters of the word? So if I were to say "**** you", there would be 4 asterisks instead of 3, where as if I said "you ****** ******" it would have 6 asterisks for each word. P I honestly don't know why the length matters, but it's going to bug me a LOT, I just feel like this is the way all other censors work.

Good thingys!

The wordfilter however would be even more awesome if I as a channel owner/mod could do that channel wide for everyone.

Replacing whatever word with something else rather than asterisking it...

tbh I don't really see the benefit of the asterisking since it's only on my client, unless the aim is for parents to remove certain words - since I would still know what word is behind it (sorta) so even if someone yells *** at me in channel, I know it was bad - on the other hand the channel owner replaced that bad word with 'rose' or something it calls for much more fun times when someone yells roses to everyone in the channel (and they won't know it was a bad word replaced).

Really... it is the little things that you all have been improving that make this game just " " that much better every patch day. Sometimes you don't hit the mark, but most of the time you guys make our lives a little bit more colorful in the stark reality that is New Eden. Thank you.
