CCP is not banning BOTs?

And a PLEX costs $20. So allow me to correct my previous statement: A botter banned is $20 a month out of CCP's pocket.

(If there is not enough people buying PLEX then there will be fewer people willing to sell them, as this will force the price to drop and thus reduce the incentive for people to buy PLEX for the precise use of selling them on the market for ISK. This should be obvious, but I am pointing out anyway because I have noticed that some people are very, very dim when it comes to basic economics - a very ironic trait to have for EvE.)

OP: why are you even concerned after filing your bot report with CCP?

Yes, the botter if he is a botter needs reporting but your continued interaction with him is just wasting your time. He is botting missions it does not affect you in the slightest unless for some reason the agents in and around your system have only a limited number of missions available per day.

yeah, i myself reported several bots, mainly miners, with many proof like, how i was able to make the bot "crash" by preventing it to warp and stuff via bumping, corpmate did the same, we even had confirmation by one of them that he was botting, yet they were neer banned, and were still botting seeral months after the reports....CCP doesn't care at all...this is just sad

Actually no, the bot earns probably 10 to 20 plexes of isk per month, and that is sold to players instead of plexes.

Even presuming its at significant discount to plexes, its almost certainly net negative for CCP.

If I were CCP and had access to really good data I would only ban bots that were *effective* at being bots.

Also, I would have someone on staff using all the tools on the grey market to make bots, to challenge the bot detection code and to test economic impacts.

Based on the description, I doubt this particular account is an *effective* bot.

Crime, it is not a "career", it is a lifestyle.

yeah like in the most extreme cases they earn loads of ISK, sell ISK for $$ over some obscure website or build up kinda gaming site... they get $$ for their botted ISK's and indeed they subscribe or use a Plex with these $$.

So even if they're paying it doesn't necessarily mean that CCP makes as much Cashflow as they would without anybody botting.

The massive income they generate and their exclusive reliance on PLEXes places signficiant upward pressure on the price. Its stupid to say that CCP shouldn't care because someone at some point paid. Pushing up the price of plex by buying it is not the same as someone giving CCP money. The real question are "do more people sell PLEX for isk because of botters?" I would say its the opposite, as if you're selling PLEX for isk, then you would need to do it less frequently because of the higher price. Obviously plenty of people do buy PLEX however, or else prices would spike instead of gradually rising.

The other question is, "are more people paying their accounts with cash because of botters?" I would say definitely, as lots of players get priced out, but many will also quit, due to the strain of grinding PLEX, or because they don't want to pay a subscription. Ultimately these are the more valuable customers however, as they give money to CCP through other means, get other accounts or bring other friends to the game, purchase stuff like the collector's edition, etc. Botters contribute nothing.

The "CCP is evaluating this bot" argument is valid, but its not entirely convincing. In many many years, I can not EVER think of a single time that CCP has addressed botting at all without putting it in the context of RMT. Team Security is all about RMT. Bot-banning waves are discussed in the context of RMT. CCP measures their success on the rising price of ISK on illicit RMT websites. If you aren't RMTing your botted isk, and if you aren't modifying the client directly, I don't think CCP gives a damn.

That's a lie. Market bots have insane advantages over players who manually update their orders. Mining, mission, anomaly and belt ratting bots use a lot more server resources than the typical player. Mining and non-mission ratting bots take up limited in-game resources (asteroids, ice, anomalies) that would otherwise be used by rule-abiding players. All of these types of bots generate huge amounts of wealth for those who run them and that wealth drives up in-game commodity prices, especially PLEX. All of these things are bad for the rule-abiding player's game experience, which is bad for CCP, whether the botters RMT or otherwise.

Its my "job" to know missionrunners around my home system because i use them to make money like this:

when i first time came in the mission of the botter with his CNR i was thinking, he knows my bait and just ignores me...

when he was all time in my system for some days, i was thinking "hmm hes flying a bit too much mission"
i wrote him a evemail: send me some ISK or ill wardec u... and got no answer

ill started to investigate more and scanned him out many times, stole the mission loot and see how the bot gets stuck
also when im bump him long time enought he warps away or logs off for some time.
